    A Realization

    THIRDSTRING'S LAW

Near-future science fiction tends to overestimate technological progress.

Conversely, far-future science fiction tends to underestimate technological progress.

    Cloudsdale
    0840 hours

The situation was rapidly turning into a something out of an obscura-fueled nightmare. An angry mob of flying horses were carrying Macer up a flight of white marble steps, spitting out paranoid slogans and chants with zeal that would make a Redemptionist jealous.

    Finally some progress

The next installment of Friendship is Sanctioned is in the rough draft stage--now it's just a matter of polishing things up while I consult my trusty editor slave friend. It's currently at over 7,000 words, making it firmly the longest chapter yet. Hopefully this will make up for some of the long wait.

    ALL THIS PAIN AND DEVASTATION

My basic thoughts on EqG, reposted from Equestria Daily. This is the essence of what I have to say on that subject.

ALL THIS PAIN AND DEVASTATION · 8:19pm Jun 16th, 2013

My basic thoughts on EqG, reposted from Equestria Daily. This is the essence of what I have to say on that subject.

One of the biggest gripes I have about all this has to do with the movie's premise, as it relates to what they aimed to do with this movie.

So it seems one of the important things they wanted to do with Equestria Girls was to expand the audience. Okay. In my mind, a far better premise for the sake of having something written for franchise outsiders would be to have the human doubles go to Equestria, not the other way around.

This would allow for much of the same kind of humor they wanted to toy with, with the added bonus of being able to explain the workings of the setting to any newcomers. And then you could wind it up by having the humans return to Earth, thus allowing any anti-hyoomens out there to safely ignore the movie in their headcanon. And since you'd be using the human counterparts of the ponies, you could still use it as a chance to launch a spinoff that continues the story of the human doppelgangers after they've returned back home.

But instead you introduce people to My Little Pony by...turning Twilight into a human, and sending her to a world much like ours, but not, but still kinda sorta like ours. Kinda. Sorta. Huh? You only have a few minutes to explain what happened since the beginning of the show, and then poof, she's gone off to Kinda-Sorta Earth.

That maketh no senseth.

Don't get me wrong, I don't hate the movie--I haven't seen it yet--but it just seems like there's a lot of better ways to do this.

Yeah, the entire premise is REALLY clunky no matter how you slice it
But hey, Fiction Identity Postulate

(also, glad to know you're not dead, and slowly recovering from the sound of it)
