    Where I've Been

So, I've been taking writing really seriously over the past year. I got 15,000 words out of NaNoWriMo; not bad for a busy month running science festivals. I finished the manuscript in June, sold my retro game systems the funds for self-publishing e-books, and joined a forum thread on one of my boards to write 500 words a night. I was feeling pretty good, especially considering I'm finally a

    Hooves Holding Hearts contest

So, working on the next chapter. No one reading the last one got the hints about the new kid, who is the story's main kid. I'll give these out, and the first person (and maybe a few others) who get it right will earn a small OC cameo in HHH.

Now, the kid's an OC...but the mother is not.

Here are the first few hints.

    Hooves Holding Hearts Edit

So, I changed a scene in chapter four. I changed it because it didn't work, and others complained with a reasonable point.

It happens near the end of the chapter.

    Spoilers ahead.

    I mean, really spoilers.

If you haven;t read the chapter, it kind of ruins the punch to know this...

    Ready.

So, when John is confronting the father....

    What the pre-readers are saying...

Just so you know, here's some comments on the Hooves Holding Hearts chapter that drops this week.

"She had a really miserable childhood, didn't she?"

"Holy freaking s***! Nevermind Jazz, you are not worst parent anymore!"

"This is both heartwarming and utterly heartbreaking at the same time. You magnificent bastard."

    Story Progress!

Chapter four of Hooves Holding Hearts is off to the pre-readers! I'm going to try to get a C&D chapter done next, I think. I'm having to split time between pony writing and writing things I actually intend to e-publish for money, but I intend to finish the crop of stories I have, maybe saving a week in summer to write "Doctor Whooves and the Mare in the Moon."

Grogar is Coming. Grogar Is. Also, Paleo has issues. · 7:56pm Jun 11th, 2013

Chaos & Darkness Chapter 4: The Quest for Tamberlon is at 5,580 words and increasing by the minute. The relaxed summer air has rekindled the creative spark, and I should be sending it to the pre-readers by Thursday at the latest. I missed writing Tirek, Iron Will, and the rest, and I just hope I can make sure Luna isn't some helpless Woobie.

In other news, I closely examined a reader comment. I was sketching out notes for a Fluttershy/Discord 1-shot, and I realized that all of the protagonists whose families I create have parent issues. Cheerilee, Ditzy, Lyra, Iron Will, and then it hit me I started to sketch out Fluttershy's dysfunctional family ties. Admittedly, she has plenty of issues to explain, but still...

I now understand how father issues slip into all of Spielberg's movies.

Hm, I might be able to finish posting my Grogar story before Paleo gets his up and makes mine look like Twilight in comparison. Joy!

Can't wait to see how you interpret Grogar's character! :scootangel:

Oh, I think his first interaction with Bray will pretty well establish his motivation. :trollestia: He's got another surprise henchman hanging around that should shock the fans, but he'll have to wait until chapter five.

Which I WILL have out by the end of the month.

Ready by the end of the week?

...Excellent.

On the other hand, Grogar really creeps me the hell out. :twilightoops:

Most likely ready. At 6,405 words now.

If Grogar creeps you out now, wait until you see mine. :moustache:

Looking forward to it when it comes out. And so Paleo Print's summer story rush begins...

And yeah, it was kinda noticeable that there was a pattern with the parents by the end of Choices. But then again, parental issues is a common grouping of tropes in fiction.

Why do I feel like that's just the sort of "reader comment" I might have made? Hah. :facehoof:

Don't sweat it. I love reader analysis.:pinkiehappy:
