Hm, I really get along well with Twilight as a narrator, but this weird Science Ponies story I've got in mind to follow up "Infernal Machines" is a lot funnier and cleaner if I have a pony like Applejack or Rainbow Dash as the narrator. I really don't like A.J. all that much, and trying to write in her voice would probably be a special kind of hell, but maybe I'll give it a try. Can't hurt, I suppose, as a writing exercise at least.

More "Contraptionology!" soon, probably Friday. I wish I could just dump my entire buffer on y'all immediately because I'm just so pleased by a bit I hammered out this morning, but I'm going to be disciplined and go with a measured release. WRITING IS HARD.
I know what you mean about the alignment shifting. Not from a writer's stance but just as a viewer. I absolutely LOVE it when something makes me like a character or at least feel for them more than I did before.

"Sunshine and Celery Stalks" actually made me feel about 200% more affection for A.J. when I first saw it. But that's nothing compared to actually getting in her head.

I love that song too, but fan music does not make me like a character more emotionally, only aesthetically.
For instance, I don't dislike AJ, but nothing in the show has endeared her to me over any of the other Mane 6.
Her parts in The Elements of Harmony and The Return of Harmony are my favorite character moments for her, but in every other major role she's either scenery, boring, righteous, or an idiot. There's no balance.

Agreed, except I don't even like her first Elements of Harmony bit. Which is why this is kind of surprising.

Twi I liked immediately but more after Boast Busters.
Dash I liked by the end of the 2nd episode.
Pinkie I liked after Swarm.
Rarity I liked after Dog and Pony.
Fluttershy I did not care for in Season 1 at all, but Season 2 she is awesome.
Applejack hasn't had her moment for me yet. I'm waiting and hoping.
