During the gala the princesses announce a new tradition to occur once a year at the gala. Rainbow Dash takes this as her time to shine and during the cerebration pulls off a sonic rainboom, distracting Celestia in the middle of a magic-intense spell that she is preforming with Luna.
During the split second that Celestia is distracted the spell crushes Luna under its mana craving form and kills her. The moon is thrust into the sun (via Luna's death) and causes the temperature to rise in huge quantity's and never a never ending day. Civilization crumbles and deadly viruses breakout; including a highly contagious form of rabies. Crops soon die and famine befalls the wasteland once known as Equestria and now known as The Pit. The rabies soon evolve into a zombie like nurotoxin, and among-st this all, hope remains. This is the story of that hope.
