Evolutionary Ideals is officially on a Hiatus. · 3:41am May 10th, 2013
So I'm going into this assuming most of you will want to crucify me upon reading the title, but I don't think it's fair to keep you waiting for something that may not rear it's head for a few months.
E.I. is going on hiatus because the drive and motivation for me to work on it has completely and utterly evaporated. The same exact thing happened with the very first story I ever wrote, with 3 months passing between chapters. It's just something in my brain that clicks and tells me "Screw that, here's 50 ideas for new stories you could be working on instead." The next thing you know, I've uploaded "Count the Stars" and have almost completed my other project, "Hollow".
Originally, I had spoken with another author here on FIMFic, ShimmeringStallion (who's a fantastic and extremely knowledgeable source of feedback whom this story and my future works owe a lot to), and we both agreed that I should complete and upload Chapter 6 before putting the story on the back burner, but progress on the latest installment has been glacial.
I apologize profusely for this, especially since I can't give you a time frame on the next chapter(s). It may be the middle of June, it may be next Christmas, but I assure you, Evolutionary Ideals is NOT abandoned.
Thank you for listening. Feel free to rip my plothole apart with PM's or comments now.
ERRRRAAAA-wait, I was mentioned by NAME!?
... Wow, strange feeling. Part enraged, part giddy.
Well, as I said before, I would've preferred to see it done, but if progress is at a standstill, there isn't anything that can be done about it.
At the end, what does it boil down to? Well, I understand. As a fellow author, and someone who respects you tremendously, I completely understand, and I know your followers will as well. Yes, it's upsetting, but when the time comes for it to continue, I know you'll be giving it your all. You won't disappoint.
Bank on it.
NOOOO!
It's sad to see one of the few changeling fics I really enjoy go on the backburner like this, but I completely understand your situation. Being able to find the motivation and drive to continuously work on a project (especially your own projects) is a huge commitment and one that takes some serious discipline to go through with.
The one thing to keep in mind is that you're doing this for fun (at least, I hope you are ) and that it's something you enjoy doing. Although I'm sad to see E.I go for a bit, I have faith that you'll come back to it eventually after you spill out all those other poniponi ideas.
Good thing I'm watching you, because I can't wait to read those as well.
*Ahem*
...I'll get over it Maybe
I can understand where you're coming from, doesn't mean I have to like it
Some people "combat" it by having several chapters written before publishing the story, so even if they get stuck they have things to publish at least for a while.
Good luck with stuff and well hope you update it one day, it just started after all.
