Issues with the Site II: Wrath of Khan · 3:38am May 7th, 2013
To my Friends, Watchers, and people who stumbled up on this page,
Alrighty, ever since Knighty and his disloyal minions "improved" the site I have been getting those 503 errors every so often, the ones that prevent me from loading a page. To day it has gotten so bad that I have had to reload a page over 4 times to get it to load past the error and the errors keep coming with a lot within 10 minuets. Ok Have any of you experienced this same problem? I just want to know if I'm not alone, and if it could be my browser. Please answer for the sake of my peace of mind and so I'll stop thinking disparagingly about the admin team not doing anything about these errors, "improvements" and not fixing the ePub issues. I swear if they put as much effort in their April Fool's prank they could fix the damn site.

That's happened to me several times, though not quite to that degree. Honestly, its one of those things I regiser for half a second and then forget until it happens again.
It happens to me once in a while, but nowhere near as often as for you.
503 errors are server-side errors and a web browser will display the 503 error message only if it receives:
-no response from the server (after the server's IP answered)
-a specific HTTP status code.
Sooo... it cannot be your browser, unless you're using something you developed yourself or an obscure hipster-kind browser that returns 503 errors for no reason.
It can be a problem with your router and/or computer, as DNS failures may be responsible for 503 errors, but it's unlikely.
My best bet? You're having bad luck and happen to use FimFiction when there's a massive increase in traffic. That's the most plausible cause for 503 errors.
You can either reload the page, come back later, restart your computer and/or router or contact the admins of the website.

I get errors every once in a while, yeah. But a quick refresh, and they're gone. It's a minor annoyance, but that's all.
Only once, and that was long ago.
Happens quite a lot, as if I need more reasons to dislike this site. At least if you F5 it, it'll be fixed. I have known sites that you have to wait an entire day for them to come back on.
the same thing happens to me all the time. but pressing F5 works to get rid of it. I'm using firefox btw.

yup! its like hitting the 'refresh' arrow at the top of the page beside the url. just tap the F5 button a couple of times and you will be fine.
so im guessing that the 503 error is a site wide thing? Ive been having that problem for well over a moth or two, can't quite remember the exact number. hope it gets fixed soon!
