    Where I've Been

So, I've been taking writing really seriously over the past year. I got 15,000 words out of NaNoWriMo; not bad for a busy month running science festivals. I finished the manuscript in June, sold my retro game systems the funds for self-publishing e-books, and joined a forum thread on one of my boards to write 500 words a night. I was feeling pretty good, especially considering I'm finally a

So, working on the next chapter. No one reading the last one got the hints about the new kid, who is the story's main kid. I'll give these out, and the first person (and maybe a few others) who get it right will earn a small OC cameo in HHH.

Now, the kid's an OC...but the mother is not.

Here are the first few hints.

    Hooves Holding Hearts Edit

So, I changed a scene in chapter four. I changed it because it didn't work, and others complained with a reasonable point.

It happens near the end of the chapter.

    Spoilers ahead.

    I mean, really spoilers.

If you haven;t read the chapter, it kind of ruins the punch to know this...

    Ready.

So, when John is confronting the father....

    What the pre-readers are saying...

Just so you know, here's some comments on the Hooves Holding Hearts chapter that drops this week.

"She had a really miserable childhood, didn't she?"

"Holy freaking s***! Nevermind Jazz, you are not worst parent anymore!"

"This is both heartwarming and utterly heartbreaking at the same time. You magnificent bastard."

    Story Progress!

Chapter four of Hooves Holding Hearts is off to the pre-readers! I'm going to try to get a C&D chapter done next, I think. I'm having to split time between pony writing and writing things I actually intend to e-publish for money, but I intend to finish the crop of stories I have, maybe saving a week in summer to write "Doctor Whooves and the Mare in the Moon."

AHH! I Poked Out Words Today! · 9:15pm May 5th, 2013

My fingers, they hurt from poking out the words...

After a teacher's Hell week of interim grades, Spirit Week, planbook checks, final creation deadlines, and dressing up as the Doctor for Nerd Day while using black eyeliner to add more Silence tally marks in between my classes, I finally got a day to sit down and write today.

And I did. 7,000 words of it.

Doctor Whooves House of Daring is done. The chapter I am most paranoid about in all of my writing career is polished off, and having sent it off to some pre-readers I am terrified. If there's any of the usual posse I forgot willing to give it a Google Docs once over, send a tell. Expect it up once the pre-readers reduce me to a self-correcting wreck.

In other news, Granny Disapproves is an amazingly fun little tale with insightful things to say about our writing community. It got me to outline a one-shot adventure with Granny Smith and Queen Chrysalis, so when that happens you know who to blame. Seriously, what other neat ways can YOU think of to write about Granny Smith? Give it a try!

Oh, and "Doctor Whooves and the Knave of Cups" fans? I'm going back to the outline to finish up, but until them there's a nice surprise waiting for you in the fourth chapter of House of Daring...

YOU LIVE! :pinkiegasp:

Ew Finals Week. :pinkiesick:

But More Doctor and Daring! YAY! :yay:

Glad to hear you weathering the storm. Any big plans when the school year ends? Or are you in one of them crazy year-round deals? Hopefully you'll have time to finish up Chaos and Darkness, as well.

Regardless, have a great summer!

Totally awesome on the Silence thing; salutary motions all around! :yay:

Looking forward to seeing how things wrap up!

Yeah, lucky enough I could use a lot of my finals questions from the test I gave last year.

This summer, want to finish ALL the fanfic I have open. Including the THIRD Whooves story. Some, expect work on C & D to resume shortly.

Also, Dragon*Con.

The awesomest thing was being dressed as the 11th Doctor and having one of my 7th graders walk into my class dressed as number 10. We immediately drew our sonic screwdrivers and beeped each other.

That's more epic than a Faith No More song! The meme regarding things being doubled seems highly appropriate here.

Oh? How'd Spirit Week treat you? What'd you have to do?

On Mismatched/Tacky Day, I wore my flip-flops, dinosaur shorts, Darwin Day t-shirt, and dollar store T-Rex head hat. In honor of They Might Be Giants, I call the ensemble my "Science is Real" outfit.

Aside from the, just did the Doctor Who costume. Although for last year's Twin Day instead of picking someone to mimic I just attached a My Pet Monster to my side and said he was my unborn conjoined twin.

It occurs to me... that mismatched outfit isn't so abnormal... for you. lol
