My Little Teelo 3 Lives! · 2:35am May 5th, 2013
On the off chance that anyone interested in My Litle Teelo 3 (aka My Little Teelo: Masquerade) doesn't already know, the third story is rated Mature, meaning unless you turned on Mature stories you'll never see it.
It's rated Mature because there are a couple of scenes in it that are just a hair more violent than I'm comfortable rating Teen. The gore is not gratuitous and there's no sexual content whatsover. Unless you're too squeamish to watch something like Inuyasha you should be fine.
So if you like Teelo, help yourself! I'm trying to keep an update schedule of 1 chapter a week, more or less.
I've been enjoying it immensely.
One of these days, I'll look up “gratuitous”… But anyway, I suppose I'll give it a try. I do generally avoid the gore tag like the feather flu. (See what I did there? Heh)
I did enjoy the first two stories though. By the way, what does the cover art for the first story actually depict? I was going to say cursed metallic toothpaste, but then I looked at it for a while, while thinking about the story, and realized it is likely to be bunny slippers. What is the yellow underneath though, and is there any significance to the green in the background? I ask cause I'd like to do a quick vector (trace over it by hand) of the picture. Of course, that is if you would like one? I assume the black is a creepy aura of evil and wickedness.
And I see you got a spiffy cover for Masquerade!

In all honesty, I hadn't realized how badly the Mature rating and Gore tags would affect people's willingness to try the story. Given how--restrained--the MLP setting is (because of its original demographic) I didn't feel comfortable not giving the rating and tag, but if this were another genre I probably wouldn't have used the gore tag though I would still use the Mature rating (as I gave it an M in Fanfiction too).
Gratuitous means "unnecessary" or "unwarranted", in this context gore for gore's sake. Also called "gorn". I believe the gore (such as it is) in this story is integral to the plot and completely necessary, given what's going on.
The cover for My Little Teelo 1 is pretty interesting, from an artistic POV, and I think GoldenGriffiness was brilliant in her element choices. The white is a bunny slipper, the yellow represents Discord's eagle claw (you can see the claw tips if you look carefully) but it also represents the tulpa he sent to kidnap her and the bright yellow color represents the fire lighting the Ghrian suite when the bunny slippers revealed themselves as the vehicle of Discord's evil plot.
The black aura represents Nightmare and the shadows caused by the fireplace in the darkened suite.
All together the image represents the evil horror Teelo found herself subjected to. The green background doesn't symbolize anything to my knowledge, it's a good solid contrast the the actual image elements, but I suppose green could represent innocence as well. Remember Teelo was 15 when Discord kidnapped her. The font choice for the title definitely represents Teelo's innocence as well.
I'm actually quite pleased with the image, and if you want to make a vector of it I would certainly like a copy, but you'll have to get GoldenGriffiness's permission as the image is hers.
The Masquerade cover is pretty cool, I created it using clip art and fonts. The background and Teelo's face aren't mine, they were created by people who know how to create art (unlike me, I screw up stick figures) but I can claim credit for the compositing.
At any rate, thanks for taking the risk on Teelo 3, I don't believe you'll be disappointed!

Well, don't worry too much about the gore thing. I'm not the community. I also avoid the dark, sad, and tragedy tags. I think I might have made some illogical subconscious connection between gore and tragedy.
As for my artistic ability… I am not too good at drawing things from scratch, I'm horribly uninspired too. But what I am good at is details, or maybe it would be more accurate to say I'm detail oriented. By the way, if you want a super spiffy program for doing vectors in, I use Inkscape, and more recently, I've been trying out Ponyscape which is a branched version of it. Inkscape, and by extension, the other one as well, supports using raster graphics (PNG, JPG, ect…) as well, you can move them around, non-destructively reshape them in various ways, but you can't edit them. But I guess you got writing to do, so maybe messing around in graphics programs would be a distraction.
P.S. — Haha! My plan was a success! I knew if I said I didn't know what “gratuitous” meant, someone would explain it without needing to visit Wiktionary!
(Not actually my plan or intention, I just had a feeling that would happen.)
Umm, did you list it as gore because Sweetie Belle dies?

Who says Sweetie Belle is dead?
1345783 I was reading through the reviews on FF.net, and... I guess I jumped to conclusions. Okay. Thanks.
