Story Idea 04: World Swap

This is for story ideas anyone can use and modify however they wish, just be creative and thoughtful I guess.

Many fics exist about human in Equestria or pony on Earth and a few that kind of fit in between. Hell, look no further than one of the most loved, My Little Dashie for a good example of this. But there is a set up that could work quite interestingly that I haven't seen done at all. And even if someone has, there is a TON of ways to go about this.

Essentially, humans sent to Equestria and ponies to Earth. All of them. Complete swap of all of them, none left to have human/pony interaction. And here's the main points to cover, though I bet there's a lot more than what I can come up with.

The human side of things can be covered briefly and have focus mainly on the ponies, but there is a lot that could be done. Dealing with the more sentient animals, the colorful world, the lack of tech, the threats that exist (like dragons) which aren't necessarily lethal, the signs of the pony civilization that is now suddenly abandoned, etc. There would definitely have to be attempts, maybe even successes, at organizing and creating ruling bodies and/or governments to deal with this new home. Also there is a huge difference in number of humans to ponies so something should happen to a chunk of them to ensure Equestria isn't packed to the brim. Maybe send many of them to the moon, especially considering that it is canonly habitable. Additionally, does humans in a magical world change anything? I can only think of this potentially working with something like human Element bearers, but how would there be an Element of Magic...?

I mentioned dragons and there is an optional way to go with this that can change up the human half very interestingly. Spike. With how this concept is set up, Spike would likely be left behind, be the one to explain what was to the humans (if they don't persecute him), maybe even become the ambassador of this world to its new inhabitants. Depending on how long this switch lasts, and it being a year to never-ending in length the way I envision it, it would see Spike mourn over losing everyone he knows but then having to grow up. How long it would take and how it would happen would depend entirely on the set-up for that half of the world.

Back on Earth, the ponies could be evenly spread out across the world but it would be more convenient to all be all of them stay as far apart as when the swap happened (towns still grouped together). This half would have a lot of decisions to make. Can pegasi still fly? Can unicorns use magic? Is there any magic or potions in this world? If pegasi can fly, can they still manipulate weather? Does hooves picking up things still work? Does Celestia have as god-like powers still and, if so, what could be the repercussions of trying to use them on such a different world. The animals around them would be no longer intelligent and they would now be the lone high-intel species. Meeting real horses and ponies would be... interesting. More than the Equestria side, the abandoned civilization will be quite intriguing to the ponies, especially the cities. Evidence of humans and their history would be decently abundant, but it would seem likely the consensus would be fear to unease to condemnation given the difference in violence between him. I can see a few seeing the positives of the human race and their struggles, but the majority would be wary. There might even be a group set up to stay prepared for the potential return of humans and to corral them into a position they cannot hurt anyone, er, anypony (*sigh*).

Given the scope, there is no reason to limit this to the Mane Six unless there is a plot line you have in mind. Any character can be a decent part of this saga, though some like Celestia and Luna are necessary to cover with how they would be affected and what effects they will have. Human side is extremely up in the air, famous people can be interesting but likely can go wrong or be too fan-preference to be liked by the majorities of readers. You can just sent known people to the moon. Could also have some well-known bronies stay and realize what's happened and become big important characters but could instead do MLP was never / isn't yet a show. It's very open but I bet everyone reading this can come up with a lot of cool ideas to be included if they take up this idea.
