Believe it or not, I actually got some chores done today.

And that's saying something, because if Diablo IV was this good at any point last year, it would have definitely been near the top of my Best Games of 2023. You know, instead of being omitted entirely.

So let's just say that Armored Core VI absolutely just got smacked out of the running for Best Yesteryear Game.

    Updates and Such

Well, as a thunderstorm rolls overhead (and hopefully doesn't knock power out), I thought I'd offer some updates on what I've been up to.

Long story short, I'm pretty much in gaming overload at the moment.

I Guess That's That · 7:29pm Mar 21st, 2012

If you follow me on DeviantArt, you'll know that I went on a little tirade a few weeks back, calling out EqD's submission guidelines.

Well, an off-duty pre-reader got back to me, gave me the most critical review of A Precious Rainbow that I have ever recieved (not kidding) and suggested re-editing, and even then expressed his doubts that it would make it to EqD. So I guess that's that. I know that there are many Bronies who share my opinions of how Equestria Daily is run, which is why sites like this exist. I still consider EqD to be somewhat elitist, and the pre-reader even admitted that Seth was terrible at taking advice on how to run his site. Seeing as how EqD is the hub of the Brony fanbase, I'd say that's a big shame.

I've always viewed the Bronies as an adult fanbase, and as the hub of our fandom, EqD should treat it as such. But I have serious doubts that they will ever adopt a Don't-Like-It-Don't-Click-It mentality.

So thanks guys. Thanks for reading. Thanks for enjoying.

I also want to send out some gratitude to the admins of this site; you've given us fanfic writers who don't hold ourselves to impossibly high standards somewhere to share our work with each other.

I personally have enjoyed all of The Cupcake Chronicles to date, and share your disappointment. EqD may be the hub that everyone knows about, but this place seems like it's more personal and more caring. Maybe it's because the readers can actually talk to the authors. Maybe it's because input is faster and easier. But whatever it is, we'll always love you here, though we will be judgmental at times and call you out if you write badly. So you don't get to be on EqD, big deal maybe, but at least you're here and you've got us.

39420 Thanks.

Yeah, like I said, this EqD off-duty pre-reader had pointed out grammatical errors that NO ONE had before. I wasn't even aware. I'm not out to be a grammar professor.

So all in all, I've got a bird in my hand (hoof) here, and I'm not going to go after the two in the bush (EqD). It's just not worth it.

I actually don't go there often myself, I used to go every now and then but lately I just have more fun here. Where I pleasurably work on my many stories and toy with ideas that come to mind ^_^. This just seems more... friendly a place in my mind ^_^.

Don't let it bum you out. Even if it doesn't make it on there, I still enjoy The Cupcake Cronicles way more than most stories that do make it onto EqD.Just keep up the great story telling.

I agree with the "more personal" sentiment. EqD may showcase the best of the best, but I love being able to post a comment where the author can easily see it, whether I'm critiquing or simply expressing my admiration of their work. Personally, as an author (a hack, at that), I won't be concerned in the least if my work never makes it to EqD because I know it'll get plenty of attention here.

(Speaking of my work, I really need to do just that. Falling behind so fast...) :facehoof:

:rainbowderp: Big shock!
Reading the headline, I thought you would stop writing :fluttershysad:
Well, I'm not in your position, I don't know what it feels like, but all I can think of is: Don't let it bother you.
Sure, many fics are getting posted @ EqD, but personally, I never actually clicked on one of them.
Most of the storys there aren't my type, just like for many other people.
That's the whole reason this site here is awesome: it lets you pick the storys for yourself rather than just publishing those that the admins and mods like.
I found your story through searching, not because some site showed it to me, and seriously, I doubt I'm the only one.

Same here. Every fic I've absolutely loved I did NOT find on EqD.
