The Boomerang/Whiplash SPD IMPORTANT CONCEPT/DISCUSSION(?) · 3:51am Apr 6th, 2013

Since I mention JohnJoseco later in this, I figured I'd link something that actually, though he wouldn't know it, displays a completely acceptable portrayal of Scoot's room at Lucky Buck's. I can give a mental portrait at some point on the OOC segment of what I'm about to discuss. Get a load of this beauty: http://fav.me/d5rxleu

If there's one thing I'm good at, it's pretending I'm fine when I'm not.

If there's two things I'm good at, the second is releasing and going right back to whatever the heck it was I was doing.

If there's three things... besides making lists, apparently, it's ambition and ideas, compounded asymptotal ability/initiative.

So. I'm probably digging myself a big giant hole by giving myself another project, but I have a plan, a pretty specific plan that requires a cowriter who is also a visual artist of at least a certain level of quality. If I get more than one applicant, or if I don't see anyone who meets what I'm looking for, that is NOT me saying your work sucks, it's just saying it's not the style I'm seeking, NEVER let a rejection stop you from doing what you enjoy, and always keep practicing. I'd feel terrible if anyone took my rejections as a wall to their artistic interest.

My plan: Because there is far more to the story than just Scootaloo's perspective, I think I want to start a totally different type of project: A Featherweight Answers Twitter. I don't know how consistent it'll be, and I know there are other Ask Featherweights out there, but they are on quite different paths, or not as constant as I'd like, plus they have their own visions I don't want to topple. This artist/cowriter would end up privy to story events before they are public, and would likely assist in the writing of events following my hundred thousandth word and 300th entry of SPD. I don't even know if this will ever happen because I don't know the level of interest, and I don't know the styles of artists. If you ARE interested, link me a couple pictures of your work in a PM. If people think this is dumb or too much information to immerse you in the story, let me know that, too. I don't want to ruin people's experiences.

THE WHY:

Other than I've always had interest in an ask blog for a character since I first started seeing them, I think it'd serve as both a universe expander, and, hopefully, a promotional tool for the story. I want to expand my audience, of course, and I think this is a fun way to do it.

[Edit:] 20 minutes after I should have shut up... part of the idea of this project is that I have plenty of information that wouldn't fit INTO the story, but is part of my mental canon, part of it is I have a good mentality of the thoughts and feelings of my version of Featherweight (as well as Scootaloo and possibly even Sweetie Belle, though it's less consistent that I know what I would see her feeling,) and part of it is I have more passion consistent and constant for this show than I have for anything in a long time, and stronger passion than for anything in the past (I've never had the impetus and initiative, let alone the wellspring of inspiration to make a story lasting 2500 words before this last couple of years.) Furthermore, if I have an alternate outlet for ideas, and a more constant incoming prompting for brain-grinding in the universe, I feel I'll be able to keep this going stronger than if I just leave it be.

THE HOW:

I would need someone who can work well with vectors, or draw rather well, in a style consistent to my interest (specifically, it has to be cute, damn cute, beyond that, I'd have to see it to tell whether it's what I'm looking for. If someone is flexible in style, I can try and guide the style if they ask. I'm not looking for JohnJoseco quality (though if you can do it, I'd accept that, of course) but at least something that matches my interests.)

I am not quite sure how the blog will be, tense-wise. I don't know whether Feathers is an adult, responding to the past plot (potentially problematic, but more logical as far as consistency) or "present tense" to the story, which is less logical, but FAR more flexible, and spoiler-hazard friendly.

There is a lot bubbling into my mind with this idea, if I can get it off the ground, but I need someone who can draw, keep secrets (I mean it, if there's anything let out, I may buckle the blog and go no further with it, or fire the artist. If things happen out of order, it can really screw up the story.) I always fear I'm doing too much, but I also feel like it's a totally different venue, addressing totally different things.

So, again, rambling, if you're interested, post here, and if you are interested in cowriting this, PM, me. I'll see within a couple days (or if I find someone who fits the bill before that, then sooner) where we're at, and post a blog post once I know what's going to happen. Look for a "Yes this is happening," a "Still looking for someone..." or a "Welp, that was a bust idea" post soon.

The SPD universe is now officially expandable, and even FURTHER at risk of buckling canon, but I'm getting to where I may have to split from the official canon anyway, because so much is going on (It's now at THREE years of story, wow) that something's bound to clash.

There are three parts that I'll have to discuss with applicants (btw, if I find someone fast, I'll post ASAP to stop people from posting and getting their hopes up, if anyone even has hopes/interest.) The blog will be a bit more than just an ask blog, after all.

WHAT I NEED FROM ANYONE WHO READS THIS:

Do you think this is a good idea?

Would you follow it?

Any concerns not addressed?

THINGS TO NOTE:

I will always keep my mental canon as the primary, though I will accept influences from my cowriter, and am flexible as long as it hasn't been publicly mentioned (that is, anything from the first 300 entries, unless there's a serious reason to change it, are rigid and binding to what follows.)

I WILL listen to my cowriter's suggestions, even if I don't choose to follow them, this is my baby, but I am still forming ideas, and they may need assistance from time to time, and I'm willing to bend to a good suggestion.

Things that happen on the blog will NOT be necessary supplements to SPD, for those who don't want to have a ten-resource story. The offshoot stories aren't ever supposed to be necessary, only constructive supplements to enhance the universe for interested readers.

Well, I'm not your guy since I completely suck at drawing, but I think it's a pretty cool idea.
