1: Read Pratchett. 2: Watch Ponies. 3 fanfic · 3:07pm Mar 17th, 2012
After a long week of wrestling with plots, I saw fit to buy myself a new Discworld book. People that have been reading Dude, We're Ponies commented that I had a very similar writing style. But after turning a few pages, I can only conclude that what I'm doing is nothing but a terribly vague imitation, which pales in comparison with the real deal.
Which is why I'll be spending the next week studying. Not just reading, studying. Seeing what it is that makes this series so good, and what I can use to make my own story better. I'll also be rewatching all the episodes of Friendship is Magic to make sure that I get the way the characters speak, act and think just right.I'll probably also throw in some Monty Python to round out my knowledge of British-style comedy.
As I'll be spending all this time studying, I won't be spending it actually writing. Expect the next chapter of DWP around next week Monday. Perhaps.
man, you're being way too hard on yourself here. 2 chapters in and i already love this story
34556 Oh, I'm sure it's not bad. The first chapter was a hit (though I never even realized it. I thought that the 'featured' box was just the place where all the new stories went, and that getting a 1000 views in a single night was normal), and the second chapter didn't cause disappointed readers to figure out where I live and beat the living sh*t out of me.
But I'm still unpleased. Call me perfectionist, but I like to make sure that whatever I produce to meet a certain standard. Since I don't actually read fanfic and have a pretty refined taste in fiction (ahum), that standard is probably a bit skewed, but that doesn't mean I shouldn't at least try to make it.
Hey, be happy. If you like my story, I am currently doing whatever I can to make it even better, so it's a win for you. It will just take a little longer, but hey, quality over quantity.

Quality over quantity indeed, good sir.
Oh, and your looking to improve your already awesome writing skills?

Monty Python! He's a freaking legend. I love British comedy, maybe because I'm English and grew up with his awesome comedy.
I like Monty Python! Do a parrot sketch or the argument clinic! or the classic cartoon duck season rabbit season, or in pony case one bit two bit's.
Any way hurry up your studying because i really want to see more chapters.
