Can Somepony Answer Me a Question? · 5:15am Mar 31st, 2013
Alright, I'm pretty familiar with Fimfiction now, even with the new design (which sucks Big Macintosh's balls, by the way). But, I've been monitoring the homepage, and I don't quite understand something. And until the other day, when I saw ChaoticNote's fanfiction, I really didn't think to ask.
Okay, so my question revolves around the Popular Stories column and the widget we all see when we first come on Fimfiction. My question is: what is that widget? And, apologies for this being a compound question, but also, how do stories get on that widget? Most stories I see are shorter than Counterclockwise. Some, yes, are two, three times longer than the longest novel I've ever written, but I'm Adrian J. Novelle, so, yeah, that's to be expected. Until the other day, they were never stories I recognized, but then I saw ChaoticNote's interesting MMORPG fanfiction, and I was like, "Hey, I know that one!"
So, yeah, what separates the Popular Stories column and that widget thingy on the homepage? And, also...how do stories get on that widget? Almost seems like they're all picked randomly or something because of the varying word counts I notice, which means some are (probably) way old and others are (most likely) newer.
If somepony could help explain this to me, that would be SO AWESOME!
