The Writer's Nook, and other such nonsense. · 8:58pm Mar 28th, 2013

I've been a lover of literature for as long as I can remember. My father got me started with L. Sprague de Camp's take on Conan the Barbarian when I was young, and I moved onto Lord of the Rings, The Belgariad, and The Wheel of Time by the time I was twelve or so.

I bucking love fantasy. Can you tell? Surrounded growing up by the works of Tolkien, Eddings, Jordan, Howard, de Camp, and of course, Lieber and his Lankhmar, is it any wonder that I aspired to be an author of epic fantasy? You might be able to see their influence in my story, Unfettered (those of you who have had the opportunity to read it thus far).

I've started and stopped writing at least a dozen times that I can remember. I'd begin, get a few words scribbled out, then throw my hooves up in disgust and throw the whole work out. I could never keep my motivation from flagging. That's not quite true, of late.

Thanks to the efforts of one Norrie McFly, as well as the other members of The Writer's Nook, I've managed to stay on-track and continue working on both MLP-related works and non-.

We started out as a ragtag collection of friends on Skype dedicated to kicking each other's tails into gear in terms of writing. We've expanded to a circle of nine members, some young, some ancient like me not so young, and we're looking to keep growing.

If there are any aspiring authors out there who find themselves occasionally losing sight of their goals, or lacking the motivation to continue, or you just want a casual, laid-back place to share your work for critique and proofreading, then we'll welcome you warmly. Just shoot me or Norrie a message and we'll add you right off.

I'll probably update this blog once in awhile when the mood strikes.

Until then, my little ponies, this is the Vagabond King, signing off. And remember, never stop writing. The world of literature needs new blood.
