Progress Report (May contain intentionally vague spoilers for Merely a Mare) · 11:27am Mar 14th, 2012
As of now:
Chapter 6, part 2, Magic: 3100/~5k words
Final Interlude, Love: 1999/~3.5k words
Epilogue, Trust: 619 words (A preliminary edit pass cost me a word on the balance)
The Final Interlude will be a bit longer than I expected, since I got a bit of inspiration for a scene that I'm hoping won't be terrible. I mean, a monologue over a gravestone? How cliche can I get?
I feel like I didn't foreshadow the twist in Ch 6 part 2 enough. I hope I pull off the reveal correctly. Some of you already know some of it, but I don't think any of you suspect all of it, which actually speaks to a failure on my part to weave it into my narrative well enough, or to draw enough attention to the only hint I gave about one part of the surprise.
I've been jumping around and working on whatever scene I feel inspired about at any given time, and it's working out well for me. I don't get stuck in any ruts for long.
"I mean, a monologue over a gravestone? How cliche can I get?"
*Looks at the script of my non-pony comic*, Uhmmm... I guess you can get away with the occasional cliche if the rest is interesting... I hope....

Well I'm doing it, aren't I? Don't mind my self-derision, sometimes cliches are called for, if used well.
