How I Watch MLP/My Take on the Season 3 Backlash · 11:40pm Mar 10th, 2013
I'm not usually a critical person. Normally, I'll enjoy something as I watch it and begin to take a more critical look at it later. The same applies to episodes of MLP. Honestly, there's not one episode of MLP: FiM that I hate. Granted, some episodes are worse than others but I can find something to like in every episode (yes, even Mare-Do-Well). I'm not saying all of the episodes are good because this series does have its share of bad episodes, I just don't have an episode that I despise and I can find something to enjoy in even the worst of episodes. Now, don't get me wrong, there are some things in this world that I can be instantly critical of (the live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender, the 2010 adaptation of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, and all of the films in The Twilight Saga - no offense to anyone who happens to like these - just to name a few examples).
This brings me to the other topic that I want to discuss. Recently, I've noticed that a lot of Bronies seem to have some sort of beef with season 3. Most notably, I saw that CR of ThatGuyWithTheGlasses and Don East of Anime Abandon both share a hatred of season 3. To me, the backlash against season 3 just baffles me. Granted, not all of the episodes are perfect and some definitely have a few flaws here and there; but I'm just dumbfounded that such a large number of Bronies can hate season 3, a season which is almost entirely a shout out to the fans. It would not be dangerous to assume that in the future season 3 could very well be known as the "Fanservice Season". I mean we saw the return of Trixie and Discord, Luna was seen more often, we got a Scootaloo episode, and Twilight became an alicorn (which has been a reoccurring plot in the MLP fanfiction world for quite some time). And, honestly, most of the episodes this season were really good (in my opinion anyway).
In relation to what I was just saying, I recommend that you all check out this video by Eli "The Cartoon Hero" Stone in which he gives his own opinions of season 3, the backlash, and the upcoming Equestria Girls. It's an interesting video and I think his rant about the backlash is PERFECT.
His talk about the backlash begins at 18:39.
Now I'm not trying to say anything like "you're wrong and I'm right". I'm just stating my opinion about how I think the backlash against season 3 is almost entirely unnecessary and a lot of it is just overreacting. If any of you disagree with what I've said then please leave a comment or something like that. Like I said in my first blog, I'm always open to other people's opinions. I'm all ears.
Anyway, with that said, I'm Doctor Perseus and, despite what the naysayers say, I'm still a proud Brony who's anxiously awaiting season 4.
I too wait for season 4, but I with a bit more vigor. You see, I'm still very confused. The whole coronation ceremony didn't feel complete. Therefore, the next two parts are months away, so I struggle to hang on to the giant cliff that is Magical Mystery Cure until I get some stability.

I'm with you there. The finale had a sense of finality but it felt incomplete. I think that they were trying to continue what was meant to be the end of the series. Thus the finality and incompleteness.

I am also shocked at the response from the brony community, I enjoyed most of season 3. While the season felt rushed I enjoyed the episodes and the return of some old faces (love Discord's randomness) and like you I am anxiously wait season 4.
I agree as well. It's surprising that a season so full of shout outs to the Brony community would be so reviled. (I'm still not okay with alicorn Twilight but you know my reasons already for believing it may not be permanent.) I think it might come down to the fact that despite all the shout outs, there was no Derpy until the very last minute of the finale. Derpy is practically the Brony mascot.

I agree. The season felt rushed, but other than that it was great. So why all the hate?!?……
Oh well.
907882 I believe the people believe that the new "wings" will initiate a cahnge in our fine lavender friend. I do not believe this is such. I am still eagerly awaiting the 4th season.
