Trial Competition (And I'm not dead!)

G'devening everypony!

So, I felt like making a post just to let the fairly small group of followers my fic has that I'm not dead. Chapter 8 of Jack & Sylvia is already done and just going through various edits (read: I want this chapter to be good, so I'm submitting it to far more editors than previous chapters have been submitted to). That said, I'm at about the height of my school business at the moment. For those who don't know, I'm a law student; and earlier this semester, I got a position on a mock trial team. For those who have done mock trial in high school or undergrad university, mock trial in law school is significantly more serious. I've been subjected to more or less daily practices, for 2-3 hours a day (on top of my 17 credits of law school courses) for the last several weeks. That said, the competition is this coming Friday-Sunday, and as such the practices have intensified (to the point where practice was 9.5 hours on Sunday. That was fun, I swear XD). I hope to have the new chapter up within the next couple days, but the practice schedule may prevent me from having it in proper condition to submit by then. And more than anything, I want it to be ready before being published. This is literally the first fic I've ever written; the overall positive reviews it's received are a continuing source of humility and inspiration to me. I want to live up to that, and make this fic something that might be revisited once I have a proper understanding of how to write fanfic and what I did wrong the first time around. If I put out a poor chapter, then the negative reviews might well stop it from ever getting positive attention again. I don't mean to presume that people are waiting with baited breath for the next chapter (Again; it's my first fic, and I don't presume that it matches up particularly well with the famous fics of the fandom). That said, I don't want people to think that I'm on hiatus when I'm simply too busy to write. Jack & Sylvia will be finished within the next couple months - no doubt about it (There are only 3 chapters left once the current one is published). Gaunt's Ghosts (with Ponies!) might be resumed after that, but I feel that it's more likely I'll start another original MLP plotline and re-read Dan Abnett's works before continuing the Gaunt's Ghosts fic. I simply don't think that the Tanith 1st and Only canon is fresh enough in my head to do the canon justice without further re-reading of his work.

I'm starting to ramble, and it's almost 5 AM. Good night Fimfic.
