So saying my new story is 'divisive' is an understatement.

Today, I learned that people will lap up samey crossover fics day in and day out, but the moment you mention Alicorn Twilight in the description or include an even slightly negative portrayal of one of the princesses, they will downvote the story obsessively without reading it.

Seriously. My latest story, 'The Final Test', is, at the time of this writing, holding 16 upvotes and 16 down. Personally, I consider it one of my best pieces, but people show up and make massive assumptions without actually opening the story, then downvote and leave. They see 'Alicorn Twilight', and they downvote because they're butthurt about Twilly getting 20% sexier. They see 'Alicorn Twilight' and a 'Tragedy' tag, assume it's another 'I'm immortal, kill self' story, and downvote because that trope is overused. They see '...Celestia has become unstable and dangerous...', assume it's a 'Tyranestia' fic, and downvote because that trope is overused too.

Look. I put a tremendous amount of time and energy to approach all three of those topics FROM A NEW ANGLE, and I am SICK of people making these STUPID ASSUMPTIONS and hurting a story that I put a LOT of work into. But the best part is that these same people scurry off and fangasm over yet another completely identical crossover fic.

All I want is to be recognized. I want people to see and enjoy my work, and I want to hear their opinions so I can make a better story next time. To do this, I need to be featured somewhere, and there is ZERO chance I will be taken seriously if these idiots keep DOWNVOTING MY CRAP. To be clear, I am completely chill with a downvote. Go ahead, downvote, but PLEASE, tell me what's wrong with the story! I have no patience for people who pop up just to say 'this sucks', and scurry off without saying why. You people are ruining my chances of being featured anywhere by doing this, the LEAST you can give me in exchange are some tips to improve my work and improve my chances!
