Are my characters original? Because for the longest time now I've been completely unhappy with Gadgets, whether it be his design, his personality, or even his name. Whenever I read through Fimfiction, or go through the Drawfriends on Equestria Daily I see all these great and wonderful OCs, with unique cutie marks and color schemes and manestyles, then I look at Gadgets and he just seems so. . . pathetic, by comparison. I feel like I've utterly failed to create a unique pony and that all of my ideas are just the restated ideas of other people. I suppose I haven't completely failed to create a good character, Celestia knows I could've done far worse, but it seems like the very things I like best about him are the same things I hate the most. Whether it be his intelligence, his insanity, his cybernetics, or even his beloved airship. I dunno, what do you guys think?

Sometime unique is not always good. Things that are widespread are there for a reason as 850055 said make it for yourself.
