Aha... I know I'm not the most stellar writer out there, not by a long way in fact. Nevertheless, I always viewed my writing of fanfiction for you all as a) my gift back to the fandom that's given me so much, but also b) a means to practise my creative writing, receive feedback and from that, hone my skills as well as develop new ones.
I have long harboured a dream, a longing even, to publish a book. Not just the short stories I write on this site, but a real story with original characters and all that. I wouldn't care about making money, but it would certainly be nice if other people beside myself read it.
If I could create a story, lovingly write it and a publisher made just one copy, printed in a pretty font and bound neatly to stand proudly on my bookshelf forever... I would have lived my dream, and I'd be so very happy.
*cough* Anyway, that's what I intend to pursue in due course, as that's the biggest aspiration I have– Actually no, that's a lie. My biggest dream (although I never expect it to happen) would for a piece of work that I created to become popular amongst a wide audience. Not for monetary gain, but so I can hopefully make people happy, make them smile, and offer them a new perspective on life. But an even bigger reason: books live for a long time, far longer than I can ever hope to live, so if I ever created a popular book, it would last long after I'm gone; people would read my words perhaps for hundreds of years, and that's a nice thought.
We only die when the last ripples we create in the pool of life dissipate.
Aim high, make some waves.

S'okay,all you need to do is thinly veil your terrible fanfiction by replacing all the names to make the story original. Then contact a major publisher and voila! You have a bestselling series like 50 Shades of Grey.
