I Might Have Been: Do you want a sequel? · 6:06pm Mar 8th, 2012
In a word, holy crap. When I initially wrote I Might Have Been, I never expected the response I got for it; thank you all so much. To my neighsayers (as Trixie would put it), please continue to keep neighing; style is unfortunately an unbridgeable gap when it comes to writing, and some of the aspects of the story that you didn't like need to remain intact. I do intend to change some aspects of the story (example, certain cliches can be changed, but certain ones are there for a purpose) that you criticized. Thanks for your comments! But I digress.
I'm writing this blog post to ask a simple question: do you want a sequel to the story? Thanks to the suggestion of my best friend and subsequent tweaking by me, I have what I think is an excellent concept for a sequel. However, you guys are what made my story popular in the first place, I would like to respect what you want. I know that sequels can sometimes ruin a story if they're not done well, so my simple question is this: would you like to see further writing for this story?
If the majority of you would like a sequel, I'll write it. If the majority of you don't, I'll leave the story as it is. So please, give me a shout out (either in private message or in a comment on this post) and let me know what you think.
Thank you again for your support; I can't tell you how much it means.

Well, I can't speak for others but, I'd read a sequel.
of course i want a sequel, but who will it be based on? not intending to be insensitive but they're all dead :x,
Bringing Rainbow Dash back saying that it was a false alarm or something would ruin both stories, so what are you doing to do? O_o
I'll read it if you post it but I'm not sure the material is there for a sequel. If you think there's potential then write it... Just get some opinions before deciding if you want to make it public.
I would read a sequel but as other people have mentioned...what would the plot be? Is it gonna be more of a prequel? Will it be based on the children/grandchildren? I never pictured a sequel when I finished that story, but as long as it doesn't somehow take away from the first one then I say go for it.
Loved the story, but a sequel may spoil it - it'll have to be a really thought-through and developed plot that it might even have to be better than 'I Might Have Been' (if that is possible, of course)
If you do write a sequel, however, I will definately read it, and probably love it anyway.
i would read a squeal. it was such a good story. glad it got featured and cant wait to see more from you.
NEED SEQUEL! I've got some guesses as to where it could go, but I like surprises. I accept your offer whole heatedly.
I would highly advise against a sequel. The story ended on a sad but final note, and continuing the story would only serve to diminish the power it has. Sometimes, the best sequel is the one never written.
I would very much like more.
well unless its going to be something concerning Rainbow in the afterlife with her freinds i would suggest against it. The audience just doesn't have a strong enough attachment to either Rainbow's daughter or granddaughter. And btw i would also suggest AGAINST changing the original story
I would have to say that it doesn't seem like a sequel would fit well, but maybe a story like this for one of the other ponies or something, explaining their final day? Either way I'd still read it.
27736 I have the same feeling, it doesn't seem like it would fit well, but I would still read it.
a sequel would be really nice :D
Quite frankly, i think your story is Fantastic as it is. If you decide to write it, I'll read it and probably enjoy it. But you've got something really great here.
I think I have an old school of thought when it comes to storytelling. Great stories never NEED a sequel. BUT that's not to discourage you from branching off or writing from another ponies point of view. I enjoy the amount of thought and emotion you put into the final scene. I didn't even think that I was reading about a cemetery in the end. It was beautifully described.
I strongly encourage you to keep writing.
There are two sides. On one side, a sequel (unless its in the perspective of celestia, daisy, or in heaven) would make no sense, and would kinda ruin the feel of the original. On the other, a sequel could be a very amazing thing, and I for one would read it.
I vote for no. Why? Because there wasn't SUPPOSED to be a sequel. It would be like Hollywood making a sequel to any of those movies that are supposed to be by themselves, though I doubt it would be that shitty
Make a new story. Your writing is amazing, and I would love to read some new works of yours. In fact... I'm going to watch you, just to make sure I find any new stories of yours!
