Season Finale: My Thoughts · 3:23am Feb 17th, 2013
Okay, so I just thought I'd give my thoughts on the finale. Before I say what I am about to say, I will say this.
If in anyway you disagree with me on such a level that would cause a mutiny, I give you the right to crucify me. Everypony got that? Alright, on to business.
I didn't like the episode at all.
Why? Well, for a couple of reasons. For one, the thing felt WAY too rushed, and the huge "plot" of the story took about five minutes to solve. Twilight fixes everypony's cutie marks and suddenly BAM. She's a princess. How fixing a spell get's you wings, I will never know, but I suppose adding that on to saving the world like three times helps. Anyhow, onward with my personal laments.
I didn't want the whole Twilight-Alicorn thing to happen. I felt the show wouldn't be as good if it did, but I was powerless to stop it, so I hoped at least the episode causing such a thing would be good. Obviously, as I professed earlier, I didn't think it was. At first, when this news if "Twilicorn" was released, most of us took two sides: those who freaked out about it, or those who wanted everypony to calm down. Obviously, you know which side I was on. Those who said to calm down often gave the phrase, "Trust the writers." Now, most of those who said that now agree with me in saying that the show won't ever be the same. I am now only really happy that I can finally say this: "Trust the writers they said, it'll be fine they said!" HA! Yeah right. Told you so.
There was perhaps just one small thing that gave the episode some value, and that was the return of Derpy. I've missed that mare so, and now that she's back, all of my horrible speculations as to what happened to her can finally rest. (Namely the one about her having a terminal illness or being on Pinkie Pie's list.)
So there's my review and opinion of the episode. I am hoping the Season 4 premiere will add some clarity to the situation, and perhaps even cause Twilight to become normal again, but hey. One can only hope, and it is probably a naive hope at that. Not to mention the fact that I am probably overreacting as usual. But hey, a guy's entitled to opinions, isn't he?
