So Twilight is a complete Mary Sue? I mean I know it's a show aimed at little girls, but the way they make Starswirl the Bearded out to be, it's like they were setting him up just to be surpassed by Twilight.

But to me, I half-consider it in the terms of Ian Malcom's line from the first Jurassic Park film, so maybe it's not that he couldn't finish it, but that he didn't and simply said he couldn't

I suspect it's more to simply marginalize him since he was the only male character (albeit one never seen on air) whom they hadn't made into a trivialized character who has no real purpose for being on or mentioned in the show beyond being something for the girls to save or to simply be window dressing. I mean sure, it's a show aimed at girls, but does that mean every male character has to be a joke or screwed over?
