Ok, so with all of the crap going on in the fandom right now I felt like I needed to give my two cents. I know not many people will see this, but for those of you who do, be prepared, this is going to be a long one with a lot of spelling and grammar errors (basically I'm ranting).
First of all, there's Princess Twilight. I'll admit, I was very shocked upon finding out that our favorite adorkable unicorn was becoming an alicorn, but then I really sat down and thought about it. This is MLP we are talking about! This show has some of the best writers in childrens television right now and they will find a way to work through whatever Hasbro makes them do so that toy sales will increase. (I say that last comment because we can deny it all we want but to Hasbro this show is, has been, and always will be a huge marketing campaign so that they can sell toys). For all we know, Hasbro made the show runners do something like this before and we never knew about it because they pulled it off so well. In conclusion, (of this topic at least) while I understand the fandom backlash, it's going a little overboard. Take a chill pill and trust the writers, they won't let us down.
Secondly, there is the issue of (like i spoke of above) Hasbro's meddling. They are starting to take the show off of the deep end. From Twilicorn to the exclusion of Derpy (however, if that was in fact Hasbro's doing I completely understand and respect their decision after what happened after "The Last Roundup". Hasbro couldn't afford the backlash a second time). I'm starting to think that Hasbro wanting to change the show too much is what made Lauren Faust leave after Season 1. And not only are they messing with the show, but they are coming into the fandom where they don't belong. I'm talking about the cease and desist letter given to the mane6 crew regarding their game "MLP: Fighting is Magic". I don't believe that mane6 was even going to try and make money off of the game and Hasbro shot them down anyway! Now I don't claim to know all of the copyright laws regarding this but at the moment, it sounds like a load of crap on Hasbro's part. However, at the moment we can't do anything but wait and see what Hasbro does next and hope that this is the worst of their interference.
Finally, there's this. I don't even know what to say except for, we will just have to wait and see what happens with the supposed "spinoff".
I think that's enough ranting and raving for now, so I'm going to stop here. I hope that everyone keeps believing in this show and what it means and not leave this wonderful and amazing fandom over stuff like this.

Actually, I don't know what to make of it. I just hope they don't start actually getting plot material from PoE stories on here, otherwise I'm gonna be really fucking pissed.
827249 In all of the stuff I've read it sounds like Alicorn Twilight will be permenent, however you might be right and I'm hoping that you are.
And on the matter of the spinoff, I agree that if they just take current MLP stories only the setting and species of the characters change that it would be a disaster.
