Update #4 on Ode to Pinkie Pie · 3:49am Mar 7th, 2012
Alright, I know I said this in the last post, but now I mean it for real: The end is finally in sight for "Ode to Pinkie Pie." I'm writing chapter six, and I've already hit three thousand words. I'm gonna call it a night and rise early tomorrow to continue. The finished product is probably going to be double that length. Most of what I conceived today I didn't even get into writing so I know that this one is going to be a long chapter. I swear, whenever I think about what I write beforehand, I always go into it, and then an idea just pops into my head and I go into a two page long tangent on it. But this chapter is where things start to get really intense. If there is one thing that I'm good at when it comes to writing, it's describing extreme trail and tribulation. If you thought that the end of chapter five was jarring, you are in for a truly rude awakening.
The seventh and final chapter (as seven is the number of completion) will probably be about the standard three thousand words, and then I'll have a short epilogue which will probably have a Greek eulogy in it or something to that effect. I think that my writing in chapters three and four has been very superficial, and five was standing on the line between superficial and decent, but these last two will be different. I'm really gonna pull out all the stops. If I'm going to get any practice for when I start writing for the win, I can't hold anything back now.
On a lighter note, I want to thank you all for your attention to the story within the last day. My last post whined about how I wasn't getting enough attention but after I posted the last chapter I saw a huge spike in views, plus a comment. To me, that means a lot that people are really paying attention. Also, for those of you who have been reading these posts, you'll know that Ode to Pinkie Pie is my attempt to wash my hands of the short story that I wrote for the February Write Off: The Conquest of Fear. Well, it finally got re-added to my account. I'm a bit happy that I got it back now because it means that the work I put into it is now displayed with my pen name on it, but it’s also hard to deal with. I'm not disappointed with it, but it doesn't have my style as it was written under restrictions which I don't like to put on myself. Oh well, for those of you who haven't read it, if you're looking for a nice, less intense read than Ode to Pinkie Pie, enjoy that one.
Thanks again everyone for reading this and following my work. Hopefully I'll have the penultimate chapter of Ode to Pinkie Pie out tomorrow.
