Well it seems that we have another case of the fanon trumping the canon.
The sea serpent that the fandom has always dubbed Steven Magnet thanks to a Youtube closed captions mistake is now officially known as Steven Magnet.
The Manticore has also picked up an official moniker - Manny Roar.
This makes it what, three times that the fandom has managed to push their own names onto characters over what Hasbro had originally decided.
First was Lyra, then Doctor Hooves and now Steven Magnet.
So, what other characters with different fanon and canon names do you want to see tackled next? Colgate/Minuette, Carrot Top/Golden Harvest. Or another pony entirerly.

Actually, Steven Magnet isn't trumping canon. Before this point, he didn't have any sort of official name. What we have here, along side DJ Pon3/Vinyl Scratch, is Fanon influencing Canon. "Acceded Fanon", if I remember my TVTropes correctly.

814038 Passing mentions in the trading cards mostly, plus I think that he had a very limited edition figure produced about a year ago. There was a quote of the creators saying something to the effect of 'We wanted to call him Steven, but Hasbro wouldn't sign off on it."
Where did the Doctor Hooves pic come from?
