I don't normally get political but...
As per a note on Mane6's website, the team behind Fighting is Magic- the in-development, non-profit fighting game based on Friendship is Magic- has received a cease and desist letter from Hasbro's lawyers.
According to the site's blog post, various legal measures have been considered and enacted, but for now the team must comply with the order. As such, production has been shut down indefinitely. Two staff members of Mane6 have also resigned from the project, effective immediately.

Everyone needs to go and sign this petition. Unless I'm mistaken, Hasbro seems to be violating laws regarding fair use. The petition only needs 48 signatures as of now, and you definitely don't want Fighting is Magic to end, do you?

Maybe I haven't been paying close attention, but it seems Hasbro's been cracking down a lot on copyright recently. I was trying to find season 1 and 2 episodes on youtube a couple weeks back and couldn't find them.

Legally, Hasbro is clear to do this. The characters they own the rights to are being used in a manner that is (arguably) contrary to the concept of the show and cannot be defended as parody (to my knowledge). Not saying I'm happy about it, just saying that Hasbro has a solid legal stance for taking down Fighting is Magic, Mentally Advanced Series, and Friendship is Witchcraft. The abridged series' might be able to make a comeback though, that does seem like a clear parody to me. Friendship is Witchcraft has a site of its own now, I hear.

And yeah, I knew it was by RDP, I just couldn't remember the title. Never watched the MAS, personally.

Mentally Advanced and FiW were taken off YouTube because YouTube policy doesn't follow the same rules as fair use laws. While both of those are protected by fair use, YouTube will still remove them because it contains copyrighted material owned by someone other than the uploader.
