Seriously, though, and you know when I say 'seriously', the next sentence won't make sense, Twilight is the most hipster pony.
Instead of having the element of loyalty or honesty, she has magic. I mean, please. All the others have personalities, but like most useless friends claim themselves as being, she's the 'glue that sticks everyone together'. Was having the element of knowledge too manestream? See, if you missed it the first time, there it is again. Mane. Manestream. Like ponies.
Anyway, what does the element of magic entail? It's not exactly the element of magic when other characters, like Celestia or Trixie (well, she is up there with the gods), have the same, if not, more magic than Twilight has herself. Was it too much to ask for basic symmetry between the mane six? Like, you have two unicorns, two pegasi and two pointless ponies, which is symmetrical, but then Twilight had to go and be special. Magic isn't an emotion of trait; it's just her being a unicorn.
Well, now she's an alicorn, so she transcends other beings in her hipster-esque self, anyway.
In the Discord episodes, all but Twilight had 'discorded' selves, or, rather, the polar opposites of their elements. Dash was a dick (well, even more of a dick), Fluttershy was marginally useful, Applejack had, for once, more characterisation than, say, an apple, which was all sorts of irony, but Twilight was... un-magical? She was just sad — not un-magical.
In conclusion, Twilight is the asymmetrical, hipster arsehat of a pony, the very thing she despises, but I love her all the same.
