I do tend to think that a lot of stories keep things very... linear. This happens, that happens, guy meets girl kind of thing (or what have you). Life is waaaaaay too chaotic for that, so you've gotta keep things fresh and interesting! And as for comedy... Well, who doesn't like a good laugh?
