You see I don't mind that she is turning into a Alicorn. What I do mind however is that this has a chance to either end the show or make a new cast of characters to focus on, let me explain.
With Twilight turning into a Alicorn she has finished her "Hero's Journey" and will be completed as a charterer.
In case you don't know what the hero's journey is, it's more or less this.
Hero starts off knowing nothing about the world. (friendship)
Their teacher sends them out to learn.
Then eventually, after all sorts of trials, they have learned all they can and become complete.
I guess what I'm really scared about is that they'll leave Twi behind. Lets be honest here, what can they do with Twi being a Alicorn. Have her move in with the other princesses? No because friendship and she wouldn't leave the others. So that just leaves her staying in Ponyville and nothing changes... and that is horrible for how BIG this is! One shouldn't just become a Alicorn and nothing changes, there's no point! That's like giving bum all the money in the world and they decide to stay homeless! Okay... mini rant over, but I hope you see my point. They can't do anything with Twilight and to extension the other mane 6 and if they do it would be wired.
sigh... Bucking Hasbro forcing this on everyone. I just hope the rumors about this being only in the one episode are true, I won't go into detail since it might be a spoiler but yeah... bucking Hasbro...
i completely agree with you. if it ends the show then I'll have a problem with it but if the show goes on I'm fine with it, and yeah they cant just LEAVE Twilight

I don't think anything is going to happen, the description mentioned something about "changing fates" so this will hopefully be a single episode thing to sell toys like they did with the crystal ponies.

That is what I'm hoping, I'm sure it won't happen and this will all just be a somewhat dark page in the history of bronies.
I prefered to leave this concept to fanfics. But I will give them the benefit of the doubt. For when I see the episode, I might rage or I might be contempt. Only time will tell.

Anyone remember the whole Cadence thing? You know, the fandom hears about new Alicorn Cadence, then the fandom learns the premise of the episode (Cadence has a dark secret). Then we see the episode, and lo and behold, Cadence doesn't really have a dark secret, it's really Chrysallis and her insectoid succubi
Same thing people. We are panicking.
And now that I think about it, I think i figured out HOW Twilight will become Twilicorn:
*Twilight becomes Celestia's student, becuaes Celestia sees Twilight's potential.
*Twilight sets off on a quest to defeat Nightmare Moon, knowing she might fail, but succeceds.
*Twilight and friends confront Discord and defeat him. Twilight was the deciding factor in the battle.
*Twilight discovers Chrysallis (disqused as Cadence) and saves the real Cadence.
*Twilight is sent by Celestia to the Chrystal Empire to prove her worthiness by defeating Sombra. She fails in defeating Sombra but passes the test due to choosing the Empire's survival
*Celestia gets the Mane 6 to free Discord in an attempt to get him to go from Chaotic Evil to Chaotic Goodish. The reasoning is that Celestia is unable to transform Twilight into Twilicorn and needs Discord to do that.
*Twilicorn.
it can't be just in that one episode. "that one episode" is confirmed to be the first part of a trilogy of episodes that's going to conclude with episodes 1 and 2 of season 4.
