    Prompts can be fun.

860 words worth of fun, to be precise. Bazaam.

Part of a writing excercise in which I and Crash826 traded prompts. The line that started off this particular block-o-text is in bold. You'll know it when you see it.

Alright, so maybe it's not cancelled. I don't know. · 4:32am Jan 28th, 2013

Here's the thing.

I don't want to write this "intro" into the TTHS world. I want to write what happens in that world. I would like nothing more than to have the introductory story finished, so I can write everything that comes after. If I end up starting over on TTHS, new name and all, that'll put me back to the start. If I just suck it up and finish TTHS v1 -- sure, it'll be bad, but all first installments are kinda weird.

TELL ME WHAT TO DO I CAN'T MAKE INDEPENDENT DECISIONS

In the end, it's up to you. But I WILL say that V1 was sorta losing focus there a little bit and it was starting to become a little more tiresome to follow than anything really should be. I'd suggest the starting over one.

Sure, it'll put you back at the start, but it should go a hell of a lot faster and smoother.

Ultimately, though, it's up to you.

Whichever floats your boat, though the old was getting a little bit silly. . .

Sometimes we have to do what we don't like doing.

Tough choice you got there man. I have to agree the original was getting silly. I like silly, its part of the reason I like Pinkie Pie... but if you aren't proud of your work. Well... then I will not say you should start over or make the new one. But I will say you should do what you feel is right. You're the only one that can make that call. Personally, I will read what ever you choose to give us, and let you know how I feel about it afterwards.

If it helps sooth your ego, Mindblower takes the concept of complete rewrites and turns it into a modus operandi. "Envy and Arrogance" was rewritten, what, four times before it was finished? And the sequel is only listed as Canceled because Knighty got annoyed. Apparently the "Canceled" tag will go away once that story's rewrite goes live.

Rewrite. Although I will miss it until it comes back.

Flip a coin

You know, I think you answered your own question already. You don't want to write the "intro". Writing things that you don't want to write isn't a recipe for quality.

I think you'll both enjoy it more, and put out a better story, if you skip ahead to what you want to write. If that means spoiling TTHS plot, then think of TTHS as the prequel; start from scratch with the Story You Want To Write and slip in context and exposition here and there so that it stands on its own, and then get back to TTHS if and when you're excited to do it again, and you'll find that you've come up along the way with little twists and turns that will still make it worth reading even knowing what's to come.
