So first off, I want to say to those of you who enjoyed Fool's Gold and called for a sequel--your patience will be very well rewarded, I assure you. JJ, Merc, and I are working nearly every night to get this beast out there. And what a beast it'll be.
So a little update on where that stands: we just hit 21001 words. You'll note that this is more than Fool's Gold. Aaaand we might be about halfway done.
Are you psyched? Well, you should be! I know we are!
Now, for my second little update--a teaser from the upcoming sequel, Diamonds in the Rough!
“Wait, Twila, put the headset back on! You’ll want to hear this.”
She did and then, to her amazement, Luna’s voice came over the radio. Even now, it sent shivers down Twila’s spine--it was so sure, so firm, with an intensity that struck harder and louder than if she had simply yelled. And so cold. It didn’t so much communicate the princess’ will as make a promise of it. What she said would come to pass, no matter what the world had to say about it.
“Thieves, murderers, and scoundrels, hear me! I am Luna Aldis Orlaith, exiled but still sovereign Princess of Torani. For your crimes and treason I prescribe only two choices: lay down your arms and be bound by true justice, or your lives, forfeited to the Creator above. This night is mine, as all are. I encourage your wisdom, though you have shown little enough in your existence so far. I will have your answers. What say you?!”
Though there was a pause, when the replies came they made Twila blanch. She had thought Dash had a rough tongue on her, but obviously the athlete had a lot to learn.
“So be it,” the princess said, her voice tinged with obvious regret--and just a hint of eagerness. “Captain Shields, give the order.”
“Aye, milady,” said a strong, male voice. Twila knew that voice, knew it as sure as she knew her own.
“B-big Brother?” she whispered.
-inhales- SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!! To hell with sleep, ponyfics till dawn!! -makes more coffee-

The things I enjoyed the most were what you gents did with the characters, and after that, the gritty action. All of it just felt right. I really love the characters and world though.
This Luna sounds pretty cool too.

Honestly, Merc's the guy to give the props for most of the action. I'm not near as good with that as he is, heh. I much prefer a lot of dialogue, character play, and emotional moments. It's funny when we're working, because we get to see just how different we are as authors. And yet, somehow, we managed to twist our three very different styles and preferences into a fantastic product. Perhaps that's why, since we each have very different strengths, we can cover each others' weaknesses.
Anyway, your comment still blows us all away and just really feeds the fire that fuels our ferocious will to expand upon such a simple idea. Thanks for the watch and the good words. They're super appreciated.

No questions, concerns or complaints on my part. Just want to say that I like the ideas that the three of you seem to come up with. They're very original, and even if the idea has been used before, you seem to be able to tweak the recipe to suit your own personal interests, adding spices and other ingredients that most people would cock an eyebrow at, but upon sampling the dish would stare in disbelieving shock at the incredible display of skill with the preparation of the dish (so many food references, but it's what I feel accurately describes how well you three write. That and I just ate.
I can't wait for the new story to come out. This is one hungry reader eager to sample yet another amazing literary dish!
