Then and now, and where we're going

While This Great Divide was canceled, I am trying to get back into it. Sadly, my enthusiasm for the pony fandom is not nearly as great as it was a year and a half ago when I first got into the mood to write fanfiction. I am simply not that actively involved, and these days I don't consider myself emotionally invested enough to call myself a brony.

That, and I've come to realize through recent episodes that trying to work within available FiM canon won't get me that far in the way of creating a meaningful and enjoyable story based on the concept I want to present in This Great Divide. Every week, until the season ends or the show gets cancelled, there will be an episode that will somehow conflict with my story, and in some cases totally screw it over. Discord being "reformed" is probably the biggest middle finger to my work so far, but I can't blame the FiM team for it. They're writing a show for kids where the entire point is for friendship to be ultimate solution to everything.

At this point, I would rather start over again and work with an AU, or a far future story like that one guy did with Human. Though I probably can't do nearly as well at creating interesting OC ponies.

That ok, considering how many fic’s where invalidated by the most recent episode making the story an AU is probably the best solution. That said Fragments of Terra was one of the first fics I read and liked on FIMFiction and I would really like to see it continue, but if you really can’t muster anymore enthusiasm for the fic that’s understandable as well.
