I have been meaning to upload this for AGES, but never had the muse to write it. With Discord's return, I am FUELED with love to write Fluttershy and Discord now. Although...now I'm going to have to speculate that it's based off my fic and not "Keep Calm And Flutter On" ;o
Anyway, the synopsis and a preview: A fierce argument with Fluttershy and Discord leads to a complete falling out, but fate has a twisted and painful way of bringing them back together, and they learn not to fight over petty things when there may be only so much time left. Has a heavy reference to "Hearths Warming, Hearts Breaking" (tragedy/sad/slice of life)
Instantly, Discord felt a flicker of remorse, his eyes widening when he realized what he had done. Fluttershy behind him was stone stiff and absolutely, deathly silent. The spirit covered up his guilt with anger, which wasn't hard to do considering how furious he was at her.
The moment he turned, Fluttershy slapped him across the face. The resounding sound coupled with the intense sting across his cheek made the spirit stumble back a few steps in shock and pain. He held the mark, his fingers giving it a dainty prod. It looked like it was going to bruise.
The pegasus hovered there in the air, still silent as a mouse. For a fleeting moment, her cyan eyes were wide in horror and her hoof shook, but realizing what he had just done, how the malicious creature had deliberately hurt a sick animal, the regret faded.
It was several moments before the spirit could speak, his eyes nearly watering from the sting. Fluttershy had slapped him. He couldn't believe it. He was no stranger to a few punishing smacks to his tail end when he really did something inexcusable, but not once had she ever struck him like this.
He snarled, a growl building up his throat.
“You..... you're a monster,” the pegasus quivered out, watching the raccoon sniffle and whimper in agony. Pain instantly filled the spirit's face, and for a moment, Fluttershy wished she had bit down on her words. Even as her heart screamed at her to shut up before she only worsened the damage, her mouth wouldn't shut. All she kept hearing were the cries of the raccoon.
“A total monster!”
Discord completely disregarded his cruel behavior for a moment as he stood there, taking in what she said. He had just been called a monster...from the one pony that had been trying to convince him he wasn't one since she found out about Aegeus and Astraia.
“...A monster am I?” The tone instantly made the pegasus's blood freeze rigid. It was a tone she hadn't heard since that fateful day, when they first met. It held nothing but venom and anger. “Well so the truth comes out, hm, my dear? How long have you been keeping that in?”
“Don't try to turn this around on me! You...you just hurt a sick animal! Y...you're selfish, and you don't care about anyone--”
His eyes widened as his anger grew. “Oh I don't, do I? No, forget the fact I've spent all day catering to these stupid animals just for the sake of--”
“Do NOT call my animals STUPID!” She snorted in rage, hopping back as he came inches away from her face, seething vermillion meeting seething blue.
“No, forget that I'm the draconequus that saved your pathetic little tail end from a basilisk, forget that I constantly used to waste a portion of my lovely power to stop you from having nightmares, forget EVERYTHING I've done for you if I am just selfish! I never should have wasted all my time with a stupid ingrate like you!”
Fluttershy's eyes had all but transformed into a raging, blue inferno. “Well back at you!” She didn't even hesitate in her responses, however angry and hurtful they were.
At last, as the realization dawned and Discord's anger simmered to hidden heart break, he snarled brokenly, “If you really feel this way about me then I don't see the point in maintaining this friendship then.” He had never spat a word with such hate and scorn in all his life.
After a moment passed, the pegasus responded with a cold retort of her own. “Me neither.”
The spirit rose back into the air, trying to mask the pain on his face with hatred. “Fine then.”
“F-fine...”
He snapped his fingers and he was gone, the air already reeking with instant regret from both sides.

I don't like sad Discord fics, but I would probably read this anyway.

728832 Oh, yeah, it's a far cry. IT's a fall-out, where they decide to never see each other again, so it has to be huge. XD

When I finished the episode today, I thought immediately about you and your Fluttershy-Discord fics.
Truly, it seemed like they saw your fics and used it as a basis for their episode.
If anything, I want to thank you for the idea alone and for perhaps inspiring people to make an actual episode around it.

729191 The notion that they'd get inspired from me is improbable, awesome, amazing, and...well ,everything. XD They aren't allowed to read fanfics, but you never know. To me it was like "Broken Spirit" came to life. But I still love my fic better.
