I wanted to post something earlier in the month but I kept forgetting once school started. I'd like to try and do an update once a month so we'll see how that goes.
Anyway, not a whole lot of progress on chapter 5. If I had to guess, I'd say I'm just a bit under halfway through. I'm currently writing the scene that would be the halfway point if things go as planned. The point I'm at is the biggest part of the chapter, and it's something that I've hinted at since day one. I feel like it's something that needed to be done in order to really make this fic a real tribute to Majora's Mask. You'll just have to wait and see what I mean by that!
Lengthwise, I doubt this chapter will be as long as chapter 4. I felt the last chapter was way too long, but I had no intention on stopping it at any point because it would have killed the progression. I compare chapter 4 with a dungeon from an actual Zelda game, so I wanted to cover it all in one chapter. It would have been harder to actually pick a good point to split the chapter than to just write it all in one go. When I decide what each chapter will be about, I try to finish it all before closing it up and publishing it. Near the end, I'll probably start trying to build tension and such since there will be more action and it will be easier to plan ahead on when to cut. I already know the general direction I want to take, but it's the in-between that takes longer to write.
Progress has been slow mostly because I spent my winter break either visiting friends and family, working, or catching up on video games that I had to put aside while I focused on my classes. Now that I'm back in college, I'll have less time to do anything so I would like to get this chapter completed before midterms if possible. Still balancing stuff so we'll see how that goes.
Anyways, I still need a proofreader if anyone is interested. Preferably someone who has done proofreading for other stories and has experience. I'm not looking for someone to dissect the story, just to read over what I have and make sure there isn't any spelling or grammar mistakes. (Although you are still welcome to point out your thoughts.) If you're interested, please send me a PM.
