    Solidarity

A troubling modern trend is complex issues being boiled down to pithy quotes. Nuance matters. Context matters. Problems that have a simple and easy fixes don't stay problems.

Nevertheless, sometimes the pithy quote is on point. This is one such time.

    Signal boost

I doubt I can add much boost, but Horizon's blog post on sexual assault bears maximum repetition. For the good of the fandom, or at the very least in the name of being a decent person, check it out if you haven't already.

    State of the Author

I continue to not be dead. :yay:
    Still job hunting, though. :fluttershysad:

Words continue to happen, occasionally in the writeoffs, but mostly on the novel I've mentioned. I'm now about halfway through the first draft, and it's full steam ahead.

See you all on the other side (or if I get a really cool pony fic out of the writeoffs).

    Interview!

Hey folks, still not dead. I actually just finished an interview with SirNotAppearingInThisFic, which you can find here. Some great questions, and hopefully my answers are equally interesting. So go hit it up if you want to see me talk about writing, rockets, and stuff I've been working on.

    Enjoy!

Chapter 3 Update · 1:32pm Jan 15th, 2013

So chapter 3 progresses apace as I peck away on planes, trains and coffee breaks.

Thanks to a couple of long trips, however, I've made decent progress (for me). The text is currently around 8k words, though only 1/3 of that is what I'd consider fleshed out. I'm considering splitting the chapter (again) to even things out and reduce the wait for you folks.

Naturally, the bit that is more fleshed out is towards the end of the chapter, but that's Murphy for you. So the downside is there's still a bit of a wait ahead to complete the chapter, but on the upside, there will be more chapter when it arrives.

Chapter splits are a good thing down to about 3k words per chapter. That's something of my personal optimum on readability. Doubtless other people will report different preferred optima. Regardless of chapter length, shorter between-chapter waits make it easier to remember the context in which the events of the story happen.

Just glad to know there's progress. That cliffhanger is eating away at me.

Well, it's currently sitting at 2.7k before the break, and little of that is what I would consider finalized. It turns out I'm lousy at guessing how long things end up being, but it's safe to say we'll pass 3k.
