I've just noticed that the thumb-up counter on Leech's original story, The Braggart and The Bug, has ticked over to 200! Now, I know some of you will dismiss this as pathetic, and cite the fact your stories can generate 200 likes in 15 minutes, but this is a large milestone for me! I honestly never expected it to be as popular as it's turned out to be, and am both humbled and amazed that 200 of you actually enjoyed the story of an arrogant unicorn and a changeling with more leg-holes than brain cells. Seriously, I expected it to get a dozen thumbs down and be abandoned after 2 chapters, such is the (sometimes undeserved) fate of many a story on here.
So, thank you all. I really should get my finger out and provide some more BITC for you.

Seriously, Giz... You deserve far more than 200. That story served as fuel for my inspiration. I doubt I could have gotten as far I as did if it wasn't for you.

I think the better indicator of it isn't the numbers of thumbs ups, but the comparison of likes to dislikes.
Namely, the fact that The Braggart and The Bug has a completely full Green bar, and NO RED AT ALL. It has 2 dislikes, but in comparison to its likes, they don't even show up on the bar.
Because how could anyone possibly dislike Leech?

Myself and my reading dog thank you. As for why I'm not more popular... two things. Comparatively speaking I still don't believe I'm *that* good, although I'm clearly not as terrible as I thought.
And secondly... not enough shipping or sex. I generally don't like those types of stories and won't compromise my stance by writing them for the sake of popularity. If you want lots of subscribers and readers in a short period of time, that's the way to get them.
There are exceptions of course, but they're generally done by authors astronomically better than us mere mortals could ever hope to be!
(Oh, and I'm also not saying all shipping/sex stories are cynical attempts at gaining popularity by authors! Just some of them!)
