    Hoennshy at an end.

This may come as out of left-field for all of you, but I can't see how I could continue on with Hoennshy, especially with its current incarnation and beastly length.

    Happy New Year!

Happy 2013, everyone! I want to get this out of the way before my drunken haze sets in. I hope everyone has a great night to celebrate the new year, and don't tell anyone your resolutions or else you might never do them! It's true! I read it on the internet!

Have a safe time, and I'll see everyone tomorrow for when Hoennshy updates for the first time in almost six months!

    Peace!

    The Final Hiatus Update Blog

January 1st is fast approaching. 12 days, if the world doesn't end in a fiery inferno, until the Hoennshy hiatus is over and it begins regular updates once again. All of the rewrites are complete. Formatting is done. All the remaining edits to earlier chapters are finished and ready to publish.

All that remains is the 13,000 word monstrosity that is chapter 16.

    A little change in pace.

Fan fiction is a strange, and sometimes wondrous being. One day it could be the thing that consumes your thoughts, then the other can be a mere ghost that haunts you for negligence. It has its advantages and its disadvantages, but its main purpose is to be entertaining and most importantly fun for the author. This is where my old plan dies.

Hoennshy at an end. · 12:41am Jan 14th, 2013

This may come as out of left-field for all of you, but I can't see how I could continue on with Hoennshy, especially with its current incarnation and beastly length.

If you look at my profile, you will see that I tout myself as a "full-time artist and part-time writer". Because of the field that I'm perusing and the amount of effort that it takes to succeed in the field, my writing time and any other hobbies that I have that will not bring me closer to my goal have to be lessened substantially. Over the past year-and-a-half, I broke my time fairly evenly between writing and artistic study. Over time, as the work load for Hoennshy increased and the demand for chapters to be released rose, I found myself focusing 90% of my time on pony fan-fiction after working 10 hour days instead of working on art to ready myself for school. Even when I was let go from my job, I decided then that I would use my time to better my art and truly focus on what would land me my dream job.

Needless to say, the nagging in the back of my head kept pushing me to revamp Hoennshy to make it better and to appease the readers that have followed it. What resulted was a minimal amount of time focused on drawing, and all of my time focused on doing rewrites and edits for previous chapters. When I finally uploaded all of them and realized what I had used my time for before school, I became disgusted with myself. One of these two behemoths of focus, Hoennshy or art, had to stop. Unfortunately for all of you, the choice was crystal clear. I know that I made a joke entry about cancelling the project back on April Fool's Day, and this may look like that post, but this is something I've been mulling over for a long while, and it has to be done.

Not to be all "doom and gloom", I love Hoennshy. The story, I thought, was great for something I would attempt, and what happens later is something that I didn't believe I would ever get to work. What I'm going to do with the information about where the story is headed, I'm not sure. All I know is that making this story, meeting the people that I did, and hanging out and chatting with all of you about this story was wonderful, especially during this strange transition period in my life.

I want to thank you all for sticking with Hoennshy over the past nearly two years. I may write some short stories here-or-there, but a mega story is something that I certainly can't handle as my life is turning more into one of responsibility and sacrifice.

I'm sorry to all who were excited to see this going forward, and I thank you for your understanding.

...I haz a massive sad right now...:pinkiesad2:

no this was an awesome story it cant end like this!

Please tell me someone will continue this.

Well ****. I understand. I've been feeling the same way. It's hard to just write and not get obsessed over it. I think sometimes we expect too much from ourselves.

Thanks for helping me on the tail end of the story, Elliot. I'm disappointed that I can't work with you or Lam anymore.

You're welcome. It was fun while it lasted. If you want a pre-reader for any short story you're writing, I'll consider it. :raritywink:

If you ever need advice or just feel like talking, feel free to message me.

That sounds good! Some of the short stories I may do might not be pony related due to me wanting to branch out, in case you were wondering.

Well, this is disappointing. Very rarely have I ever thought about the future of a fic's plot while not reading it; this is one of the exceptions. I still have three chapters to catch up on, and I will read them. Even so, I won't dwell over this. Hoennshy has been one hell of a ride, one that I wish would not end this way. With that said, I wish you the best of luck in all of your future endeavors, Fenix.

Unfortunately I don't have any plans for someone else to take the reins. The story ends where it ends, and I'm sad that I have to let it go like this.

Thanks a lot, man. I really wanted to see people's reactions to where the story was headed (future guaranteed dislikes and all), and I'm really disappointed that I have to end it just as I was getting to some of the more exciting parts. If I could have justified it by getting any sort of financial cushion from this, or that my final goal was to become a writer, I could see Hoennshy going along better. But with an estimated 150-200k words left in the story, I just can't do it and be competitive in the concept art field at the same time. Thanks for the well wishes.

Ah well, real life (what is it anyway? :pinkiecrazy:) has to come before pony. I know one pony in particular *couch*Chromosome*cough*wheezee* who had to completely give up pony in order to get his life back. :pinkiesad2:
I also see myself throwing too much free time on ponies (sometimes), but manage to do my work first... yet! :pinkiehappy:

It saddens me immensely to see Hoennshy go (I was hoping to finally read it someday) but I do understand and respect your decision.
Best of luck in whatever your life throws at you!

I think I will need to go to bed now. I thought I heard my skull crack. :pinkiecrazy:

After hearing the news of your retirement, I made it a goal to express the amount of delight you have brought. Sorry if it sounded a bit weird or cheesy but anyway...

Hoennshy was the first pony fanfiction I read. Heck it's the first novel that I read that I really really enjoyed and really really immersed myself into. So without the experience I felt when I read this, I probably wouldn't have started reading more pony fiction. Hell I've might have never gotten interested in reading more and probably wouldn't have a deep appreciation of this art form as I do now. So I thank you for providing us (The Brony Community) with this incredible story (which I regard it as the standard for adventure stories), and I want to thank you personally for opening up a wonderful world. Because if it weren't for you, I wouldn't probably be the same brony that I am now.

P.S. I hope all goes well in your life, and that you succeed in your desired career.

Thanks for the well wishes! I hope that you give what story there is a chance, unless you're talking about later chapters. I really do want to finish this story, but I would have to absolutely kill it in school and wait for the summer for any chance for that to happen.

713103
Man, I did not expect anything like this when I first started Hoennshy. I'm happy that there are people out there that enjoy stories that I like, and a long, mystery filled adventure is right up people's alleys. That just makes me for confident that I'm doing something right when it comes to my personal story ideas. I truly would love to finish this story and provide all of the answers that I now have let hanging and give everyone the ending that they deserve to see, but life does come first. If there ever came an opportunity to continue it, I would do so in a heart beat. For now, I'll let sleeping dogs lie and let it get the rest it deserves.

Thank you so much for the well wishes. I can guarantee that Hoennshy's sacrifice will not be in vain.

Oh, don't worry, I'll make sure that happens...

Don't worry, I know the niggling disappoint of having to let go of an extended story universe... I've got a Zoids Mirror Universe series I haven't touched in over two years which I keep wanting to go back to, but never managing to... as an author, the idea of leaving a world unfinished just *gnaws* at you...

G-good luck with your art... I-I know that fanfiction should not come first, and you made the right choice, but I still wanna cry... But good luck getting your dream job and good luck with your art, oh Fenix the great one! I'll miss this story... *sniffles*

Two weeks into the cancellation, and I'm really feeling it. I didn't realize how much it would've gnawed against me until now, but all of the urges to do some work on it still come and go. I have a feeling this will either go well, or I'll break and continue. I'm really not sure.

Thanks for the well-wishes and support. Trust me, it wasn't easy for me to do this, especially as this story is now a year and a half old already.

I just caught up with it and found out about the cancellation, and... man, this is saddening. Hoennshy is my favorite crossover fic ever. However, I completely understand your reasons. I do hope that you can find the time in the future to continue, but even moreso that you accomplish your goals in art. Major respect for being able to put this down and focus on what really matters for you.

Best of luck, Fenix.

Dafuq?
You should have plenty of time for both.
You just have to learn to get by without that time -consuming habit called sleep!
I know it's done wonders for me! :pinkiecrazy:

780298 Awwwww...... I always hate to see a good story get cancelled, but at least it's cancelled for a good reason. Best Wishes on your art and your life. I hope that you can face up to the Advanced Challenges in your life, and be the very best Like no one ever was. This is a bittersweet moment for me, but it's fine. This is my final message to this Unbeatable story.
