Luna And Celestia 1000 Years Ago - A Narrative Poem In Multiple Voices · 5:40am Jan 13th, 2013
(This is a fan fiction of the battle between Celestia and Luna as a long form narrative poem in multiple voices. As such it is both poetry and story, a fanfic poem. Since it's too short to submit as a "story" I figured I'd post it as a blog entry. Also on tumblr - Serves as something of a prequel to The Love Of Shadow And Night)
Narrator:
Luna flew from cold and lonely space
Broke walls, her sister's room intruding
With rage and hate etched on her face
Celestia:
Oh, sweet sister, dark and brooding
What has brought you to this place
And what has you my gaze eluding?
Nightmare Moon:
Stupid foal, I will displace
You from your high and mighty throne
From history your memory erase
Celestia:
I see your heart is overgrown
Tangled in some deadly hate
So you forget, we share our throne
Nightmare Moon:
My rage your words cannot abate
The throne you hold is in their heart
My throne, by rights - You desecrate!
Celestia:
Dear sister, once last let me impart
My love and theirs for you is true
Who twists your mind and by what art?
Nightmare Moon:
What's love? It is their fear I'm due
Let them cry and let them cower
For tonight we bid their sun ado
Celestia:
I see now, but see too late an hour
I must save you or I must defeat you
But I must do with all my power
Nightmare Moon:
At last! This fight is overdo
Come and let me end your day
Rage and hate are all that's true!
Celestia:
I will fight but will not slay
Elements Of Harmony, come
Lead back to me this heart astray
Nightmare Moon:
Bring them, but to me they will succumb
You forget, you're short one mare
and the rest are all but common scum
Celestia:
Is my sweet sister someplace in there?
Luna, please they are our friends
With all their hearts for you they care
Nightmare Moon:
The need for them my heart transcends
You know you bring them to their doom
Oh, and here they are to meet their ends
Celestia:
Once more I ask as endings loom
Come back to me, my sister dear
Let love and friendship once more bloom
Narrator:
And for a moment in her gaze was fear
As Luna searched her sister's eyes
And wept for all at last was clear
Nightmare Moon:
I am held and my will dies
I will help you seal my fate
Redemption before my will's demise
Celestia:
I understand, we cannot wait
But you resign yourself too soon
Let rest pull you from this hate
In harmony's warm and safe cocoon
We send you there to heal
One thousands years as one with moon
Narrator:
Bright magic spun to weave her seal
Then rivers cried and earth did crack
Lightning from the sky did peel
And prophecy now met at last
Would slowly turn to painful past
