Hello. I read. A lot. And, if the stars are right and the planets converge, I might actually finish and publish a story sometime this decade.

    Depression

Sorry, I've been depressed for quite a few years and completely stopped reading for the last few of them. That seems to have changed due to various things, including antidepressants, and I seem to, at least partially, be back to reading and rating. Maybe I'll even write something, though I wouldn't hold my breath as that is significantly more of an effort than reading. Also, getting a new job

    Big fic turnoffs

Many things turn me off fics. Here are a few:

    1. Misspelling the description or title. I instantly close any fic that misspells something in it's description. If you can't be arsed to get the description right, then how much of a crap do you really give about your fic? If you don't care enough to do that, then why should anyone else care enough to read it?

Big fic turnoffs · 9:58pm Jan 4th, 2013

Many things turn me off fics. Here are a few:

1. Misspelling the description or title. I instantly close any fic that misspells something in it's description. If you can't be arsed to get the description right, then how much of a crap do you really give about your fic? If you don't care enough to do that, then why should anyone else care enough to read it?

Edit: Not bloody capitalizing the first word in the description = I close the tab before I have time to read the title, see the image completely or read more than three words of your description, this is meant literally, as that just happened. I can read at 10 words per second, so that should tell you how long your description will hold my attention in that case.

2. Vague descriptions. If your description is vague to the point that I can't even tell what the fic is about, how will I know that I want to read it over the other 1800 (Edit: 2807 now. Editedit: 6738) in my Read Later list? You are exempt from this if you are a well known writer already, with an established style, because your readers already know that you write good shit.

3. Tag bombardment. If your story has every single tag selected, I probably won't read it. Why? Because you just made the tags useless. I can dig [Sad] and [Comedy] being put together. However, what the hell does [Sad][Comedy][Romance][Random][Tragedy][Adventure][Human] tell me about your story? Nothing.

4. Rambling descriptions. I get that you are excited about your fic and that you have a lot of things that you want to tell me about it. That is good, but tell me them in the actual fic. I'm reading your description to get an idea about your fic, not to read a wall of text describing how the fic came to be. If I click on the "More" button and the description quadruples in length, then you need to focus more on the core of your fic, as well as it's main selling point.

5. Hidden descriptions. If you have some note that you want in your description, put it at the bottom so it doesn't get in the way of your description or, Celestia forbid, pushes it out of sight below the "More" button.

I made a story purposely using all the tags and had to talk with the admins first to get it through (Trololol).

I might make another one, just for you.

4234887 What story was it? I haven't looked through everything you've written yet.

Was it hard to convince them to make an exception?

4235387 I'm sure it would be an interesting read, considering your other stories.

4235407 Nah. They wanted to be certain there was a reason, and I gave them one. The story was 'Soluna: The ultimate alicorn of infinite wisdom'. It's an oldie but seemed to be a goodie. Might have some errors in it, but I'm currently preoccupied with rewriting The true Psychopath and, eventually, From man to mare.

Also, most of the things here are usually signs of an extremely new writer. My VERY first story here is an abomination like that, honestly, but I keep it that way so I remember what I'm not supposed to do.
