First day... · 4:08am Jan 2nd, 2013
...is coming to a close, and I find myself wondering, what funny little things do people do to start off their new year. My family has, as long as I can remember, always eaten corned beef and cabbage () for dinner, every year. For good luck. What does everyone else do?
Good luck? Like, if you eat cabbage on the first day, nothing worse is likely to happen to you that year?
We didn't do anything. My parents didn't even let me stay up late on New Year's when I was a kid.

Something like that. Superstitions are funny that way. //dl.dropbox.com/u/31471793/FiMFiction/emoticons/shrug_Rainbow_Dash.png
Didn't even get to stay up late? That kinda sucks. Although, I suppose my own parents were more tolerant of that kind of thing since I come from a family of night owls.
Back when I was home for New Year, we made Olivier salad every single year. Bit of a tradition, much like the cabbage, though less good for you (it is drenched in mayonnaise and represents an active cardiological hazard). We'd then stay up ridiculously late and tell jokes. Another tradition, that. A favorite activity was to watch a tremendously horrible movie and lay into it MST3k style. I won't lie, I miss it quite badly.
