No, your eyes did not deceive you. This blog is actually about my first, oldest, and greatest story on the site.

Having failed, quite horribly, at branching out into other avenues of authorship and fanfiction, I have decided to return to my roots and continue writing Gadgets. However, I do not intend to pick up where I left off. The old version had plenty of good, but there was also plenty of bad. I'm particularly disappointed with how I wrote the story. For that purpose, I've decided to rewrite it from the beginning, making numerous key changes to the plot, settings, and even my beloved characters. But before you get your panties in a twist, I can assure you that much of what made the story great will remain the same, and all characters will be returning. How I'll be doing this is to remove each chapter as it's rewritten and republish it with the new version. I'll be keeping Google docs of the originals, with links at the beginning of each chapter, I do however suggest that anyone who firmly wants to keep them copy-paste to a Word document.

What's changed:

The setting. Magic in Equestria has become a dying art, steam-driven technology and physics-defying science taking the lead. Cities have been industrialized, airships rule the sky, and ruins dot the landscape.
The crew. Each resident of The Inconceivable has undergone a slight redesign, their backstories and appearances have been altered and their personalities given more depth. They're still the same ponies, griffons, dragon, and brownie you fell in love with, they've just been given more depth and greater breadth.
The Inconceivable itself has undergone a drastic change, becoming less of a deus ex machina. In the immortal words of Minion: "It's called that because it's inconceivable this tub actually flies."
The mane six. Originally the stars of MLP:FiM weren't scheduled to make an appearance until the very end of Book 2. In this version I've given each of them an altered backstory in keeping with the world, as well as a minor recurring role in the story. Personally I'm very excited to have them play a bigger role and I think you'll all be pleased with how I've remade them.

What stays the same:

As stated above, all characters will be returning.
Araea still exists, though now we get to explore it from the other side.
Although exploring more darker tones than its predecessor, I still intend for the story to retain its lighthearted humor and casual approach to danger.
