Well then to all of you... Merry Brutal Christmas!!!

And as to the story idea...

Well I noticed there are not many stories that actually put a historical event from our World in Equestria, so... How 'bout this:

Stalliongrad is a widely known city, built many years ago, a core part of Equestria. Ponies say that it was built on ruins of an ancient civilization, hence the many different marvelous constructions spreading throughout the city. Some still holding their secrets tight.

Mane 6 due to Pinkie Pie's idea decided to take vacation and visit the huge and at the same time slightly exotic city, placed at the outskirts of Equestria. Everypony was eager to go for their own reasons, be it new fashion trends, visiting the local library in search for a rare book or seeing if rumors of self-moving clouds in a city are true.

Unbeknownst to Mane 6 there is a legend among Ponies of Stalliongrad

On the third millennium of the time of new rule,
A shadow will spread through city's night cool,
Ghosts of the past will raise again
For us to see the true horrors of the previous reign
When the old bell strikes two times
The darkness will show us the wicked crimes

Most ponyfolk treat this weird legend as sort of scary story you tell the children when they go to bed, if they behaved naughty during the day.

However as the Mane 6 arrived and went about sightseeing the city, the old Bell Tower of Stalliongrad which was supposed not to be working, gave out a sudden, loud, horrifying ding... And another...

Soon eldritch power seeped from the tower enveloping the whole city, dark energy that filled all corners of Stalliongrad, throwing all the Ponies back in time, back to the previous reign that had it's place over 3000 years ago.

And as the darkness lifts Mane 6 find themselves in an unfamiliar place. There's a metal, corroded sign that stands next to them, stating

Stalingrad

Unbeknownst to them the year is 1942 of the previous reign, August the 23rd and the Battle of Stalingrad has just begun...

Now I'm not sure if I'll put this in the Twisted Tales as a one shot or the previous one... Have to think about it...
