So on displaced stories on this site there is usually have a MC meet the Merchant (RE4) in a cosplay convention or in purgatory.
Sometimes the Merchant isn’t always the Resident Evil 4 Merchant some are the Duke, Sony merchant, and I read once with Xur (destiny) as a merchant.
I’ve always thought there would be a sorta guild of these displacement Merchants to give individuals a peaceful or exciting new life.
However I’m getting off track again.
So here’s my point:
The MC usually buys something from them and after that we never see them again. Which is slightly understandable, however I’ve been thinking…
What if the Merchant Character is a recurring character. Sure they can’t give the MC a new life rather what of the Merchant can give the MC items in exchange for valuable items such as gold, silver, rare gems, and other treasures.
A semi-neutral party like in RE4 and RE8.
However there is a catch, they can only give the character items from the universe from the item they picked. The other side is to that is that the merchant can give services similar to that universe (given if the MC got the wealth for it).
Example: Mc picks cyberpunk the merchant can become a ripper doc, if the MC wants a upgrade to his cyberware.
I had this thought of such a concept involving a guy becoming a regular stormtrooper from Star Wars but I was like: ‘He’s not going to get far without non-pony help’ so I thought about this.
Am I going to write this idea? No, not really.
Will I write a story with this concept in mind? Yes, probably don’t know.
But until then I’ll figure something out.
I've actually started a displaced story where I used the excited dragonborn merchant from BG3.

Would you like to read it? It's only a single chapter at the moment.
I love the idea of the merchant being in touch with the MC and providing items for sale. Hell if you ever played Final Fantasy 8 and in several Final Fantasy games there is a call shop feature that the player can get. I always thought any displaced should have that with the merchant.
Hmm not a bad idea there and can work well
So what's wrong with this guy not having any pony allies or friends? They don't have to be OOC jerks or hypocritical antagonists, or over cliche racist/xenophobic pricks to agitate our main protagonist.
And he's going to be a regular Stormtrooper? A Imperial Galactic Empire, First Order, or Sith Eternal/Final Order verison?
Not a Clone or any other Stormtrooper special variants?
Hopefully, he doesn't have that "terrible aim" meme from a gross misunderstanding from fans and even from Disney.
Because we all know that the Stormtroopers were pretending to "shoot bad" by Vader's orders.

What I meant by ‘non-pony’ help was he wasn’t going to get his resupply from a species who are still in the ‘steampunk’ level of technology. E-11 aren’t rechargeable I doubt the ponies use tobonic gas. So the merchant (or member of the merchant guide) will be there to resupply the MC or pervide then with new equipment.
Need thermal detonators? The merchant got you covered, for the right price.
Going into the badlands? The merchant will sell the MC a sand trooper add on kit for the MC, again for the right price.
Need something that has a bit more punch? How bout a disrupter? Might be on the unethical side if you use it on an organic but the merchant will provide it with a large sum of coin.
…
I think I’ve said too much.
Btw he’s a regular trooper.
For now.

Don't forget Snowtrooper or Scout Trooper outfits if you want to go to the Crystal Empire and the Yak's village, or go to the Everfree Forest or any other forest.
BtW; The original's Imperial Galactic Empire, or Sequel's First Order, or Sith Eternal/Final Order verison?

As much as I love the Old republic era not in this case
I hate that diseny cannon first order stormtrooper (save for the sith trooper design)
But yes civil war era classic stormtroopers
