    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 14

Remember CCR a few days ago?

Yeah...Deep Purple's another band that Anthropology directly introduced to me.:twilightsheepish:

<sigh> What can I say but the truth?

    About Me. (Oh Boy)

Hey there, friends and followers of mine, as well as you randos who just clicked on this page. Yes, I see you there, and I don't mind.

Heck, I made this blog post so that people can get to know me more, so you're in the right place. (It gets more interesting after my random things that I like, but I'd still like you to read those, please.)

    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 13

Oh boy am I excited to share this one.
So, to have heard of this band before, you basically have to be part of one of these three specific groups:

    1. An Australian fan of indie rock in the 90's.
    2. A fan (or former fan) of the gosh immensely popular show "Bluey".

    Tape Deck's Mixtape: Track 12

Swamp rock. Seems like a weird name for a genre, but if you've heard of it at all, pretty much only one band really comes to mind.

(And even if you haven't heard of "swamp rock" you've surely heard a song by Creedence Clearwater Revival before.)

    All hail Nightmare Moon.

Tape Deck told me that he's not for everyone, but if you can appreciate a guy who, underneath all the randomness and geography (which Tape Deck seems to really like), is a pretty nice and respectful guy, RD's your man.

Give him a chat sometime. TD apparently talks to him every day.

Every Album I Own (For the most part.) · 2:48am April 8th

The two things I've enjoyed the most over the past year are, well, the obvious, and music.

I started getting into both at about the same time, which wasn't a coincidence. I don't have the space to talk about it here, though.

These are all of the albums that I own that I actually listen to, and I will update this list when I obtain more.

(Please only look through all of this if you're actually interested enough.) Sorry that the pictures are gigantic.

Listed by artist alphabetically, and then chronologically by year. I have the CD version, unless specified otherwise.

The Alan Parsons Project

(1982)

Anderson Bruford Wakeman Howe

(1989) Self-titled. All band members whose last names are listed in the band name have been members of the band Yes at one point or another.

The Art of Noise

(1984) Vinyl. Listen to this album, it's great. It's like if a remix was a band.

Barenaked Ladies

(1992)

(1996)

(1998)

The Beatles

(1965)

(1967)

Beck

(1996)

(1998)

(2005)

(2006) Titled: The Information. This album cover actually should be completely blank (but including the grid) because it came with these cool stickers you could make your own album art with. I have the deluxe edition, which has a few bonus tracks, an extra CD with remixes, and a DVD with really weird, but cool, low-budget videos for every song on the album.

(2014)

Better Than Ezra

(1996)

Billy Joel

(1989)

The Buggles

(1980)

The Cars

(1980) On vinyl, and a really snazzy electric blue (plasticky?) one, at that.

(1984) Titled: Heartbeat City. Expanded edition, with some bonus tracks.

(2016) A compilation album.

Coldplay

(2000)

(2002) Titled: A Rush Of Blood To The Head. Technically not my CD, but I have easy access to it from the person I know who owns it. (Will be the same for all I mark "technically not mine").

(2005)

(2008) Includes a bonus disc entitled Prospekt's March, which includes more songs. Technically not mine.

Creedence Clearwater Revival (CCR)

(1969) Titled: Green River. Vinyl, just plain 'ol vinyl.

(1976) A Greatest Hits compilation.

Custard

(1994)

(1995)

(1997) I bought this on iTunes, then burned it onto a CD. I couldn't find it for sale on Amazon.

(2000) Compilation Album. Deluxe Edition. Bonus Disc. Enough said.

(2015)

Deep Purple

(1972)

Devo

(1978) Titled: Q: Are We Not Men? A: We Are Devo!

(1979) Cassette Tape.

(1980) Titled: Freedom Of Choice.

(2010) Titled: Something For Everybody.

The Doors

(1967) Titled: Strange Days.

Eagles

(1976) Titled: Their Greatest Hits 1971-1975. Compilation a;bum, and the best selling album in the US. #2 worldwide, behind Micheal Jackson's Thriller.

(1982) Successor to the previous album. I got both in a cardboard sleeve that houses both CD cases.

Electric Light Orcestra (ELO)

(1973) Includes bonus tracks.

(1974) Titled: Eldorado. Includes bonus tracks.

(1975) Includes bonus tracks.

(1976) Includes bonus tracks. I own both a CD and a vinyl copy.

(1977) Includes bonus tracks.

Morning! Today's forecast calls for blue skies

Sun is shining in the sky
There ain't a cloud in sight
It's stopped raining
Everybody's in a play
And don't you know
It's a beautiful new day
Hey-ey-hey

Running down the avenue
See how the sun shines brightly
In the city
All the streets where once was pity
Mr. Blue Sky is living here today
Hey-ey-hey

Mr. Blue Sky
Please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long? (So long)
Where did we go wrong?
Mr. Blue Sky
Please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long (So long)
Where did we go wrong?

[Guitar Solo]

Hey, you, with the pretty face
Welcome to the human race
A celebration
Mr. Blue Sky's up there waiting
And today
Is the day we've waited for
Ah-ah-ah

Oh, Mr. Blue Sky
Please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long? (So long)
Where did we go wrong?

Hey there, Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around, see what you do
Everybody smiles at you
Hey there, Mr. Blue
We're so pleased to be with you
Look around, see what you do
Everybody smiles at you

Mr. Blue Sky
Mr. Blue Sky
Mr. Blue Sky-y

Mr. Blue, you did it right
But soon comes Mr. Night
Creeping over, now his hand is on your shoulder
Never mind, I'll remember you this
I'll remember you this way

Mr. Blue Sky
Please tell us why
You had to hide away for so long? (So long)
Where did we go wrong?

Hey there, Mr. Blue (Sky)
We're so pleased to be with you (Sky)
Look around, see what you do (Blue)
Everybody smiles at you

[Instrumental Break]

[Outro]

Please turn me over

(1979) Includes them 'ol bonus tracks.

(1981) B o n u s T r a c k s a r e o n m y C D .

Secret Messages (1983) (ELO still, no image because it technically isn't SFW, but it basically just refused part of some old renaissance art that happens to be nude.) I honestly wish it didn't have that in the artwork, as it's a pretty good album. It was originally suppose to cover four whole sides of Vinyl, but the record company wanted it to be condensed down to one record. I have the "single record version" on CD with a few bonus tracks, and a vinyl version of the original planned full album, sans one track.

(1983) Darn, this album gets too much hate from critics. It's great stuff. Oh, and bOnUsTrAcKs.

(2015)

(2019)

(2011) 2-CD compilation album.

Franz Ferdinand

(2003)

The Hives

(2000)

(2007)

Imagine Dragons

(2014) Technically not mine.

Jack Johnson

(2001) Titled: Brushfire Fairytales. (Technically not mine.)

(2003) Technically not mine, but in a way, I own a copy of it.

(2005) Technically not mine. If for some reason you've never watched the TV series Curious George, or the movie Curious George, I kindly request that you do so immediately. The quality contained therein had no business being in a "kids show."

Jebediah

(1997)

King Crimson

(1969) Titled: In The Court Of The Crimson King.

King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizzard

(2017) Titled: Polygondwanaland. This album was actually released into the public domain by the band, and you can download it for free and do whatever you want with it. That's crazy. You can download it here.

Led Zeppelin
(1973) Titled: Houses of the Holy. To be safe, album art not posted (Click the link to get to the Wikipedia page), but it's nothing horrible at all. (Thanks for introducing me to them, LuckySeven!:yay:)

Men at Work

(2003) Compilation album of songs from albums released in 1981, '83, and '85.

Pink Floyd

(1973) Titled: Dark Side of The Moon. 2023 50th anniversary edition vinyl.

Radiohead

(1997) It took a few listens, but I really like this album.:yay:

(2000)

Steve Miller Band

(1978) What it says on the package.

(2017) 2-CD compilation album.

Talking Heads

(1980)

(1985) Titled: Little Creatures.

They Might Be Giants

(1986)

(1988) Titled: Lincoln.

(1990) Titled: Flood.

(1991) Titled: Miscellaneous T. Compilation album of b-sides to singles they had released in prior years.

(1992)

(1994)

(1997) Titled: Then: The Earlier Years. I must confess that I do not actually own the first TMBG album, Lincoln, or Miscellaneous T on CDs by themselves. They're all part of this compilation, which includes some extra tracks as well.

The Traveling WIlburys.

(1988) Titled: Traveling Wilburys Vol. 1. Jeff Lynne, Tom Petty, George Harrison, Bob Dylan, and Roy Orbinson? All together? Amazing stuff.

The White Stripes

(2001) Titled: White Blood Cells.

"Weird Al" Yankovic

(1992) On tape.

(1996) There isn't a bad track on here, in my opinion.

(2003) I know I'm in the minority, but I really like this album. Well, expect for Ebay. Yes, that's the song I don't like from it.

(2006)

(2014) Technically not mine.

Yes

(1971) Bonus Tracks (BT)

(1971)

(1972) On vinyl.

(1973) Titled: Tales From Topographic Oceans. Double album on vinyl. (Two records.) This pic is the unfolded outer side of the gatefold.

(1974) Titled: Relayer

Yes-Going For The One
(1977) <sigh> Another album art I probably shouldn't post here. But slightly less actually inappropriate (you can see a guy's rear end, and it's just him staring off into the distance.) BT.

(1978) Vinyl.

(1980) Titled: Drama. BT.

(1983) Titled: 90125. BT.

(1987) Titled: Big Generator.

(1999)

(2001)

Whew, that took a while. This list should be complete, though.

For now.

Thanks for indulging the whims of this crazy guy who uses a magic pony fanfiction site to promote his music interests.

I love The Beatles, tons of classics there.

BNL, are another band that I enjoy to listen too.

Can't say I've delved into the others, but nice to see some common ground.

5775766
Yeah, this is nowhere near completion, and it's going to end up being pretty long. Too long. But I appreciate your interest. Do you have any music you would like to recommend to me?
I avoided The Beatles for awhile, just because they're one of the most popular bands in the world. That was a mistake.

Completed for now if anyone happens to see this.

Very nice list you got here. Yeah I’ve heard of everyone on this list and know all their hits lol. You have good taste in music my friend.

Feel free to ask me about any of these artists lol.

5781525
Well I'm glad to hear that you're familiar with all of them.
And thanks.

But wait, have you actually heard of Custard?

Yes they’re an Australian band that had some minor hits in the 90s I think. I vaguely remember seeing them when I looked at Australia’s pop charts like a decade ago on Wikipedia lol. I also listen to songs that are hits on the charts of other countries, particularly the UK, Canada, and Australia’s. Often their pop charts are quite similar.

5781564
Well I'm extremely glad to hear that. Wisenheimer and We Have the Technology are great albums, but all of them are good. And they're still kicking around, and might release a new album this year.

(To be fair, I got into the band because the lead singer, David McCormack, voices Bluey's Dad, but I haven't been an actual fan of that show for over a year, and I never really was that much of one. I just like the band, and don't associate the two at all.)

5781608
I believe you and I’ll give them a listen soon when I get the chance. I can’t say I remember how they sound but like I said I’ve at least vaguely heard of nearly every band or act that’s ever been popular in the English speaking world lol. But many of them I haven’t listened to in years as either they didn’t make the cut for my iPod/Spotify or I forgot to do it for some reason. A few songs and artists occasionally fall through the cracks for me, I mean there’s tens of thousands of them since the 1950s lol.

And yeah I know the show Bluey. Just like MLP I think it’s a decent children’s show with high quality animation, my girlfiend and I have watched it on occasion as we also like dogs a lot lol.

5781612
Mlp basically replaced bluey for me. I still like it enough, but I wouldn't consider myself a "fan".

And Custard doesn't disappoint.
