(Re-)read several more oneshots, some about Sunset some about minthorse. And an April Fools fic from two years ago.
• New Leaf & W(Hole) by Aiyonbeam
A dilogy of stories dealing with post-Fall Formal Sunset. Not much to say about these, not even sure how to feel about these (the story next in the list kinda did it better for me personally), but the metaphor for Sunset's struggles in the sequel was cool (couldn't find a better word to describe it but yeah, liked it a lot).
• My Best Friend by Holy
Another post-Fall Formal-Sunset that I've first read much earlier and liked a lot. Sunset's struggle to find herself again still resonates with me a lot, and yeah, her friend has been my friend for a long while as well, and still is to an extent.
• Lyra Beyond the Walls of Sleep by Cynewulf
Another old fave that I've revisited recently and it's still wonderful. Someone in the comments noted that it's basically an "Anthropology meets Lovecraft" story and that description is spot-on. The dark and dreamy vibes in here are just excellent, the purple prose is really well done, and it delivers the horror without going over the top. Poor Lyra though.
• Have You Passed Through This Night? by Cynewulf
Another minthorse story by the author, aaand sadly I couldn't appreciate it just as much. Maybe my English is not good enough, maybe I'm not smart enough, but I didn't really get the heroines' ruminations, though I did get the main gist of the plot so I'm not complaining about the story itself but of my own (lack of) reading comprehension.
• The Inspiration Machine by RB_
Good news, everyone: Twilight has found a way to induce manic state at will!
And it sure do be like that.
That was a fun read, not much else to say.
• Threnody for Sanity by RB_
Erich Zann played to keep the horrors away, Lyra plays to bring them in. Not the highest-rated horror story on the site but still quite an enjoyable read.
