SITREP, PRINCIPALITY OF EQUESTRIA, MARCH 19, 2024. · 5:25am March 19th
Hello all! It's currently 1:05 AM for me on the nineteenth of March, and while I haven't been sleeping the best I can, I figure I'm in good enough shape to let you all in on any updates. If any of you do happen to see this, that is. I'm not exactly the most consistent with my activity.
...Anyways, back on topic.
I want to say that as of now, the story I was originally working on is probably not going to be completed for a long time. I haven't had many ideas or motivation to work on it for quite a while, and while I don't intend to cancel or abandon it, because I think I still have a lot of good ideas there, it's just not what I've been that interested.
On the other hand, I have spent, more or less, the past two years, on and off, thinking of some other story ideas. These form a somewhat concrete universe of their own, and I'm feeling more confident, having gotten some input from others on them.
I'll have to admit that the universe in which these new stories exist doesn't really conform to MLP:FiM canon that well. To be frank, I've tried to get into, and watch the show, but to say the least, I just don't find myself ever wanting to do so. So, generally speaking, I'm probably going to be avoiding having any main characters play any major role, because I don't think I can depict them accurately to who they are.
The first story is going to be a somewhat small scale project, and is, as of now, intended to be an anthology of short stories detailing magic and technology in this AU, and how it affects the development of the four tribes of Equestria, and to others beyond.
The second is going to be the "main" story, and will focus on conflict, change, and expectations vs reality. The conflict that sparks is very much based off A Canterlot Wedding, but the wedding is just going to be the start. It's going to get a fair bit dark, I will say. If I can do it well, anyways.
And how well can I execute these? I don't know. I often tend to find myself focused on one particular aspect of things, and there have been more than a few times when I've jumped into things without doing enough research. And as you may expect, this could be a problem especially if what I write completely goes against stuff that's happened in real life. And of course, while this is fiction, some basis in reality is needed to make it believable. I'll try not to make any mistakes that are too egregious, but I'll also apologize in advance when I probably end up making said mistakes anyways.
But, I remain enthusiastic as these are things I know I've wanted to do. I've spent a lot of time thinking on them, and I don't intend to let these ideas die out. I've gotta try.
The magic faded that day. But it never faltered beyond repair.
It often seemed futile to try, but we didn't do this to fail. We do this to live. And live, we will.
When the wind of change clears out the stage, no trouble lays unstirred. When life's herald states her word no status quo remains preserved.
EDIT: This Equestria also has fighter jets. Because I like planes. I really like planes. Not that I'm particularly knowledgeable.
But I like planes.
And maybe I'll find a way to do a car racing story. It's a similar situation with that.
