My island is blowing up. No, not really. · 1:17am February 10th

So, if you have been paying attention to foreign news that does not relate to wars and politics. You may have noticed that my island of Iceland has been having volcanic eruptions in the same place for the past three or so years and even more steady eruptions for the past three or so months. It got so bad, in fact, that an entire town was evacuated. :twilightoops:

Now, to an outsider, I realize this might sound bad, but I can only really say, eh, we're used to this. We've been in this situation before actually. In the mid-seventies to the mid-eighties, we had very similar series of eruptions in a volcano called Krafla in north of Iceland. And in 1973 we had to evacuate the entire population of Westmann island (small archipelago just south of Iceland) because the island their entire town was on decided to erupt right outside town. (This is why the legend of Rockhoof holds a special place in my heart.)

So yeah, this is just the life of an Icelander. We don't control or rule the island; we just happen to live on it. Occasionally we get stern reminders of this arrangement.
