Still pecking away on Midnight Rising and Feathered Hearts...

The two Lemon Zest chapters of Midnight Rising have now reached 26,600 words and they’re still nowhere near done, with probably another 5-6k words to go. Gotta treat the girl right, after all, and also make sure there’s plenty of sexy side dishes around her. And as for Feathered Hearts?

    Still working on Midnight Rising...

At the rate of about 800-1000 words a day. That’s my key to getting stuff done that’s causing you issues; just be sure you put at least a little time in on it this day to have some forward momentum. The two chapters are now up to 24,100 words. I’ll work on it more this weekend, at least around continuing work around the maps and battle graphics I’m making for Feathered Hearts.

Did two things this past weekend...

First, I ran 10k for the first time in two months after laying off that long to let my ankle bursitis subside, trying to allow the area to generally heal up. It appears that it worked. To my delight, there was no ankle pain after and I hadn’t even lost much stamina thanks to hitting an elliptical machine twice a week for an hour instead of jogging. My upper legs are another matter, though.

C&C chapter 40 entering prereads tonight + teaser

Much as I didn’t want to, I made the decision to break it up since the full length of the War Council meeting had exceeded 20,000 words and will probably approach 25k for the now-two chapters before all is said and done. The breakpoint itself will be between learning about the general war situation both Aricia and the Griffon Kingdom face, and then discussing what in all the Crows they’re going

Midnight Rising/C&C update: April showers may bring May flowers...

But of more interest is the emergence of 17-year cicadas in my area. Big, ugly, red-eyed insects that are the size of your thumb but basically harmless, as long as you can get past all the shed skins they leave behind on leaves and the everpresent and disconcertly loud background sound they produce as a mating call. Fortunately, the outbreak in my area seems pretty limited. There's a few around,

AJ_Aficionado in surgery and Midnight Rising in edits · 10:44pm January 29th

After a couple false starts, I finally figured out how I’m going to fix the last Midnight Rising chapter and am attacking it with gusto now, though I’ve also been sparing some time to tweak the new Eros chapter that is only awaiting its final prereads.

With regards to the latter, who would have thought that Gilda and Changeling Queen Lepidoptes would form a mother/daughter bond? Can’t say it was something I was planning, but its another example of my writing leading me instead of the other way around. The rest of the prereads should be in soon, and we’re on schedule for a Tuesday night release.

And on a more serious note: Prereader, apprentice and partner-in-Fimfiction-crime AJ_Aficionado had major surgery today to fix a severe acid reflux issue that’s made it agony for him to eat anything more than the most bland of foods. I forget the name of the procedure he’s undergoing, but it works by making a twist in the esophagus just above the stomach to stop the acid backwash, kind of like a sink trap. it’s supposed to be a permanent fix, at the possible cost of making it very difficult to burp going forward.

Recovery is not quick either, as he’s going to be on a liquid diet for a bit—not at all unlike how I was after jaw surgery to fix my sleep apnea. Just like me, he had to fight it out with insurance for a while to get all this approved, but finally he did, and can hopefully look forward to eating real food again. It’ll be a few days before he’s back online, but feel free to leave him some well-wishes, either here or on his Fimfiction page.

One can only hope for a swift recovery and things to get better :pinkiesad2:👍

Can't wait for the chapter:rainbowdetermined2: sorry for being offline for a while, life keep getting in the way, and I really hope your friend feel better soon

I am alive if not feeling particularly well. A lot of it is gas pressure. I can't stay long. I just got out of post-op. Thanks for the well wishes, Sensei and thank you for being my friend. I can tell you that since fundiplication surgery, I haven't dealt with any more reflux, just post-op pain. Lots and lots of pain.

Good to hear from you! The pain will fade with time and maybe a little chemical help, so take care of yourself and do your best to rest in the meantime. I just posted the first longpost to EMD. Check it out when you get a chance! Hopefully it’ll bring a smile to your face if nothing else. More installments are coming as I can finish them. I forgot how long the story already was!

No problem. And behalf of him, thank you. Since you were the one who pointed out the problems in the original version, would you like to preread the updated Midnight Rising chapter and see if it meets with your approval?
