Well, this week was kind of a bust. Not great when you’re on a schedule but …
The basic gist of it, folks, is that I caught a cold that’s been going around. Cough, stuffy nose, some soreness. Oh, and a fuzzy head, which pretty par for the course when getting sick.
Thing is, writing (and editing) is a largely mental game. And I’ve learned the hard way that when I get sick, my mental capacity is not up to the task of writing or editing. Trust me on that one. Again, learned the hard way.
Which meant I basically took the week off. Played through Alan Wake 2, which was excellent and a good timing for being sick (and I’ll probably write about it if you guys want me to, since it was really good but I did have some criticisms as well). Finally watched The Meg and laughed my way through it (I felt it was a dumb movie, but one of those movies that knows how dumb it was, and all the actors were just having fun with it). Enjoyed a Halloween night playing board games (well one board game, Mystic Vale) with friends.
But my brain’s coming back, so starting today I’m going to sweep through at least one chapter of Axtara – Magic and Mayhem checking Alpha Reader feedback and polishing. Next Monday, editing will start with fiery earnest—I’d like to clear the Alpha in a week if possible.
More work needs to be done getting the cover art ready, of course. And I’ve let stuff outside my work life slide as a result of getting sick.
Okay, but positives? Soon it will be time for Axtara – Magic and Mayhem teasers to start dropping. Probably as early as next week. This project is about to become all-consuming for me, because I’d still like to have Axtara in your hands just before Christmas.
Buckle up, people, because Axtara’s about to start flying fast!
